2007 Mercedes s550 W221
w221 stock airmatic reset
Hello, I replaced a front air strut and after the replacement the car is riding higher than before. The car appears to be stuck in high mode in the front, the ride height in the back appears normal. Any thoughts on how to reset to stock would be appreciated, I do not have a star tool. I did not change any adjustments, simply installed the new air strut.

Are you showing a malfunction light on the dash?
Did you try cycling through raised mode and ride height using the dash button?
Why did you replace the strut? (How did you diagnose? Are you sure it was the strut and not the valve block?)

after in installed the both front struts it stills drop, i found the leak on the right side and tighten it. It doesn't drop low anymore but the malfunction light with an arrow pointing up now appeared.

If it comes on right away after starting it, I would suspect the valve block or the compressor. If it takes a few minutes for the light to come on, I would suspect a leak in the system somewhere. You really need to get your hands on a diagnostic computer. It will allow you to test each component individually and find the issue.

if valve block or compressor has an issue will my car drop over a couple days? If it doesn't drop does that means it's something else beside the valve block and the compressor? I know i need a scanner to be sure but i don't have on hand to diagnose.

If you want to go the cheaper route, you can get a bottle of leak detector spray from Amazon. You just spray it on every line, connector, and component and look for bubbles. You might get lucky.

check and likely replace the link rods on the level sensors - if these are seized, damaged or snapping off the ride heights will be all over the place.... if these were out of sorts and someone fiddled with ride heights in electronics the car will be all over the place
