Audio/Video not working on command in 2011 s550
I recently changed the amplifier in my Mercedes s550 2011 as i thought that was the culprit of my audio not working , it fixed it temporarily but there are times when the audio goes out and i cant select audio or video on command, ive read alot of things but none of them line up with what im experiencing, i would greatly appreciate some advice or help because im at a dead end

2011 has the NTG3.5 later and better headunit - (better BT comms and nicer menus), the unfortunate side-effect of the later design was that it moved closer to the dies just after warranty ends build quality the world has fallen into -
this may not be the ultimate driver of the current problem - but its a huge risk - funny enough, "as if they knew it would do it" the hard drive is easily removable from the front cover in the NTG3.5 unit with just one screw (leaving the whole headunit in the car). It is very common the NTG3.5 unit has a self destructing hardrive - best pull it out and swap image content to a never drive before the world totally ends

thank you, im sorry to ask but could you provide like a model number for the part, video on youtube or etc., i want to make sure i do everything right before i buy something wrong or cause another issue, i looked around for a video but im only seeing things along the lines of “ntg 3 replacement” which looks like its for a older model or “ntg 3 to 3.5 upgrade”. recently i approached a mechanic and he said it could also be due to the fan on the unit not working causing it to overheat, which im unsure if that makes sense, i just know that the amplifier was one issue but there is another.

there's some stuff on here you can hunt for, I think its just a 20 or 40gig 2.5" sata hardrive - the original is an old world spin it up one, but designed for a bit more knocks and higher temps... a solid state one of decent quality should be better...
the best thing would be to remove whats there and check.... it should take less time than searching the internet

If you’re curious how to upgrade to ssd. these are the instructions, it is performed here on an NTG3 comand unit but the only difference I recall was the orientation of the hard disk tray.
