W221 S500 Loud banging sound
This is my first post on this forum and I'm the owner of a S500 from 2007.
I've had the car for more than 2 years right now and it's been great so far.
Now I've gotten a new issue which I haven't been able to identify.
When I go 70 - 100% on the gas pedal then something bangs really loud at the drivers side.
Since it did not happen when the car was in neutral and when in reverse gear (with brakes) it seems to shake a bit it let me think it was the transmission mount.
Got it replaced but the issue still persists.
Anyone got a clue? tested my engine mounts as well but these don't shake a lot in my opinion.
Additional info:
Engine M273 5.5
Km 259.678
I uploaded a short where u can kinda hear it:
its a very unusual noise - much sharper and louder then I'd expect -
gearbox and and engine mounts need checking
I don't think it is but the exhaust smashing into the body as things move might be possible
as would be the prop-shaft snagging on the body / exhaust and or centre bearing has given up under the abuse its getting
which leads to the next bit further back, with a need to investigate if the diff bushes are completely toast
Thanks for the idea's will order a driveshaft rubber and engine mounts (as i already did the transmission mounts) for now and hope that it solves the issue.
Mounts or several broken exhaust hangers (or both) comes to mind.
