Help with battery registration. ??? how to do it???? or it is not necessary.
Hello good morning. A question colleagues. In my 2006 s500 w221, it has two batteries, one in the front in the engine compartment that is only for starting the 12 v35ah engine and is acid and another in the trunk agm of 12 v 95ah for consumers and extras. My question is. When the rear battery is changed, do I have to register the battery in my car????. Or is it just set and done. The two batteries in my car are the original Mercedes ones. Forgive the question and my ignorance. but I would be interested in knowing this to do things right. Greetings to all and happy Sunday 👍👍👍 I have a XENTRY / DAS diagnosis

The batteries, although MB branded, can't possibly be 18 years old. There should be a date code sticker somewhere on them for warranty purposes. If you look, you'll find them. If they're more than 5 years old, you might want to think about replacement. Most auto stores will do a battery health test for you, no charge. My understanding is that you need to do a coding change if you replace the battery with one having a different AHr rating, but MB doesn't use the registration process as do some other brands.

Hello
Hello friend. The batteries in my cars are new and purchased from Mercedes. That's why I said they were original Mercedes. I bought them and installed them myself. but I have not seen any battery registration process. That's why I asked if my car needed to be searched. since since I changed it there are no errors and everything is perfect. But I was left wondering if it was necessary to register. hence the question. I have looked in several forums. on ggogle and on you tube and there is nothing on that topic. in this model w221. So I understand that it is not necessary. thanks for your reply. all the best.

sure can the old ones were MUCH better made - if you take the back one out and fight the stupid screw top lids and top it up till the tissues is moist will do another 5 years
I only just swapped my front one - not sure it did anything to help - top that up and charge it'll keep going too (front one basically does nothing anyway)
there is NO registration required on these ones (its just coming back with the latest cars)

the engine ECU is a few amps and the starter has to be less than 35a/hr as that's all its given
the key in the run position engine off (exterior lights off) pulls 37 amps - add in stuff like heated screens front and back which do stupid stuff then add 4 windows going up and down and there you have it

You guys across the pond must get a different version then what I enjoyed here in the USA. My 2008 S65 (May or June of 2008) still had the round fog lights and two batteries. But it did have the diamond stitched hides.

maybe the fully laden ones took longer to go to single battery ? or was the cross over just a bit later than I thought (I was pretty sure we have people saying they have a single large front on late 2007 year cars) - mate with a mid 2009 has a the single battery (its not the NTG3.5 real facelift of late 2009)
