Oil filter housing gasket and oil filter for 2010 s550

Hello, i know somebody who works as a Mercedes benz mechanic and i went to him to get this leak checked out on my car (2010 s550). Part of the repair requires a new oil filter housing gasket and oil filter. The thing is hes charging $650 for just parts and labour for the two things i mentioned above. Doing my own research i found these parts for well under $100.

just want some clarification if maybe im searching the wrong things or if this guys trying to get some extra cash off of me. Any information would be great.

I’ve also attached a screenshot of how he worded how the repair and cost would go down for reference.

thanks!

I'll be the first of many to jump in here and say this pricing is absurd and robbery. If you have any mechanical ability at all, you can take a screw driver and pop off the centrifuge cover and put a new one in for about $7 and 3 minutes of your time...the first 2.5 minutes spent locating it on the back passenger side of your engine. The oil filter housing pricing is a little more appropriate (I mean by dealer standards) because you'll have to take off some other components. But again, if you have any ability, you can buy a new Nissen unit for $100 and do it yourself. I do have an M273, so perhaps the M275 is different, but probably similar.

Thanks for the advice! I ended up finding and buying the parts myself for cheaper and am just going to him for labour to get this done as there are also some other problems I need to get checked out.
