Sudden power window failure
The driver’s window on my 2007 W221 suddenly stopped working. All other windows and shades are working fine. My research on this forum and on line suggests it may be simply a needed software update so I took it to the dealer today to have it checked out. I provided a copy of the old Star Bulletin to address the thermal fuse issue however the dealer service rep wasn’t too interested as the document was from 2008. They called me later to say the window motor needed to be replaced…total cost installed 1K Canadian before taxes. The tech said the switch and relay tested ok so the motor must be faulty. I am concerned that they did not run the software update and simply tested the switch and relay…going straight to motor replacement. I have since put a hold on the work for now and sent the service rep a link to a video on line showing the Xentry update process and asked him to confirm with the tech that they actually checked this. I was told that they would get back to me. I’m still to be convinced it’s the motor but we’ll wait and see. Anyone on the forum have any recent experience with this issue? Thanks!

Dealerships are too stupid to do anything
they should provide a print out that explains what software is in the door module - all 4 doors need checking / updating
if the left front is running software - SW 221 442 1832 then its the buggy version and it should be on SW 221 442 4132
many cars were never updated - if they can't provide this - PICK THE CAR UP PAY NOTHING AND GO TO ONE THAT CAN..... FYI all 4 should be free - but expect to pay 40 mins labour to do all 4
