Reseting Air Bag indicator?
So I installed paddle gear shifts over the weekend (thanks to the Swede). It looks and works great. I had to remove steering and airbag in order to do this but put them all back in place to the best of my knowledge.
Problem is the air bag malfunction message pops up each time I start the car (that I can click OK button to dismiss) but the red airbag indicator is ON all the time.
Any idea how I can reset this??
Thanks!

it can also mean the installation was not done properly or you might have broke something while dismantling, send it asap to a qualified tech.

I swapped my steering wheel and right after the new one installed , I saw an air bag warning too. My MB staff connected a device to my car and he deleted the light by using DAS

Turning on the car while the airbag is unplugged will create this situation. As previously indicated above, the only way to turn the warning light off (and re-enable the SRS) is to have the code cleared on a MB-star level diag tool. Of course the dealer can do this for you (or a member who has the MB-star) OR .... most upholstery shops and body shops have access to a guy who can do this (generally for a little less).
The way to avoid this is to disconnect the battery (batteries) before you disconnect the airbag (adjust your collumn to full extension for best access to the airbag screws first) And then, do not reconnect the batteries until the airbag is reconnected.

It goes away using Star. It's normal that you get a malfunction message and the red airbag lamp after you have disconnected the airbag. For safety causes you have to use Star to erase the message.
