Fluids / Oils for 2012 S550 in my situation
Hi.
First time trying to do the fluid changes "privately" so a little confused and would appreciate some pointers.
Profile of car, weather, and driving patterns:
Canada. 4Matic 2012 S550. Car has 145K KM (90K Miles). Weather averages around 30C (86F) in summers and around -25C (-16F) in winters. City (stop & go) driving. No engine oil leaks or oil burning issues.
Engine Oil:
Google search suggests any of these as suitable: 0W-30, 0W-40 (All TEMPS) 5W-30, 5W-40 (Above -25). Which would be best?
They had put 5W-40 the past few oil changes. Don't know why. Is that the most suitable type? Or, should I use a thinner grade (0W-30 or 0W-40)? What are the pros and cons of each? I have heard that thinner oils (0W-30 or 0W-40) would be easier in winter but are prone to cause leaks. ???
Transmission Oil
I am considering this kit from Rock Auto. More Information for VAICO V302258 (rockauto.com)
Is it good/suitable? If not, any recommendations?
Transfer Case:
I have been advised that it is linked to Transmission. If so, then the same fluid as Transmission will take care of the Transfer Case too, right? If not, what is the fluid spec for this?
Rear Differential:
Which fluid to use for this?
I am of the understanding that all four of the above fluids need to be changed. If something needs to be added to or subtracted from this list, kindly advise.
Thank you!!!

lots of brand bods here love to support a criminal US brand
its often best to use manu spec oils - they know why they put in what additives and then why they then had to change it - like
https://operatingfluids.mercedes-benz.com/sheet/223.2 still says the old 273 and even the turbo 278 need Merc spec 229.5 old world oil

First of all it's unlikely you can change transmission fluid yourself. Fluid is both added and drained from the same hole in the pan. Special tools are required. Pan bolts are one time use only aluminum. You wont find correct fluid at a flaps
read about it here https://www.fcpeuro.com/blog/mercede...-transmissions
Find the proper fluids for your car here: operatingfluids.mercedes-benz.com
Understand that the engine oil requirement is for a full synthetic oil ... meaning "climate" is irrelevant
