I have connection schematics from WIS and I have linked outputs from old SAM to facelift headlights... I sent a picture above how exactly it was done. Also additional wiring was added when I had facelift SAM but now it's not really needed as I didn't mention any difference when I disconnect it.

If you mean you can read logic boards schematics and tell me what to change I can do that.

I still want use old SAM. Is it possible to have it work with old SAM?

CAN module is discontinued unfortunately so it's not available online. But I can share it's connected and what changes was done inside the SAM:
CAN module work as 'man-in-the-middle' method and it converts CAN signals between SAM and XALWA.

Here, in the EU this solution is named "Chinese solution". If only position/parking lights not working, you can install resistors.

It's far too complicated ( for me ) and of course far beyond any safety. All that is based on the folklore regarding " coding is hard".

Sorry, I can help only if you install the facelift SAM.

Could you please share coding instructions to have facelift SAM properly work with old car' batteries? If it's smth really realistic and relevant I would revert back to facelift SAM (I still have it and all lighting works ok when it's installed).

1. Batteries are different thus different protocols to operate with them: 35Ah vs 95Ah AGM under the hood, 95Ah AGM vs none in the trunk, and none vs ~10Ah in the dashboard).
2. Consumer shutoff doesn't work properly (lamps in the doors and cigarette lighter relays are turn on and off very quickly (like a strobe) instead of shut off.
3. A constant errors about F32k2 quiescent current relay

PS: For parking lights if resistors can solve it why coding can't do that?

There is a domain named BMS - battery management bla, bla, where you can code the battery. Just one relay from consumer shout off will strobe a little but will stop every time with no problems.
Quiescent current can be coded as well from battery sensor domain

The resistor is needed on old SAM because there is no option for coding the positions.

@trigital You are referring to safety and you are 100% right. But by installing facelift SAM you solve headlights but you have dozes of other issues because that new SAM designed for a newer car and there is much more things to care safety in. I have listed several issues above. If you know how to solve all of them not just these three I will move back to facelift SAM and code it properly.

I saw BMS under SAM in DAS - it's not as a separate module and there is no way code there smth. Or do you need coding trough DTS Monaco? Or could you please tell me how exactly it can be coded?

Two of the will strobe in rear SAM + lights in doors and trunk... I had that with my facelifit SAM

Do you remember what bulb was in 2008 W221 as parking light so I can find a proper resistance to try?

PS (IMPORTANT): If I solve parking lights is it possible to code DLR to work properly? Since old car also had DLR but different type.

With old SAM you will need resistors and the DRL will never work as DRL, it can only work as Fog with resistors as well ( why you keep saying DLR, I am curious). Any function with resistors is not safe and may be not legal as well.

I never installed resistors so I can't tell you the values, but any Chinese installer should know.

Under PWM voltage the resistor will be very hot

About coding, is always related to the SW and HW. It's not a universal solution.

If you install facelift SAM, I can show you how to save the coding ( with Vediamo or DTS Monaco software) in such a way to see the variants.

Also wondering is resistor will solve parking lights why there is no errors in DAS or on screen...?? When I activate paring light in XALWA errors appear... But when I turn light on it doesn't

Wrong approach.... wrong coding, the definition of non-safety. As in 99.99% of cases the lights will lit on a mountain road with hairpin serpentines....

Thank you for your time. Much appreciated for this continued and meaningful conversation.

But what about those ILS functions what was available in old headlights and those available in new (like adaptive fog light, highway light, etc). Do you mean you can also code it so I don't need my CAN module in fact if I install facelift SAM?

Yes, new SAM, correct wiring and that's all.

Also I read somewhere on forum for the scenario with facelift SAM I also need a facelift CWG. Is it true?

No, the CGW is not needed to be exchanged.

I have a specialist near me that has only done Merc high end retrofits for the last 20 years - many times he specifically told me he has done lots of facelift headlight conversions to old 221s and he told me (and he showed me a CGW he keeps just for this process), he fits a later gateway pulls in the files and SCNs the later options to early cars - then refits the original CGW - maybe he can do it this way as he has paid online Xentry....

He do that for his online system, this way the MB server thought that a newer car ( with another VIN);is connected and he can code online the old car with the new VIN options. That's the solution when you can't do coding. As there is a lot of options that can differ

Using DAS offline you can do it yourself. Obviously if you make a mess then it gets expensive, but it's not impossible.

There are several wires that need to be added and most of them need to be re-routed on SAM side.to have the facelift configuration.

You will need to re-route some wires and to add two wires, exactly as schematics on facelift 221.

Some knowledge is required to find and especially to understand WIS schematics

Then you can start with a much simpler retrofit.
