W221 S550 No Sound, Antenna & Cd changer faulty or amplifier as a whole?
I just purchased an 08' S550. The COMAND cd changer along with the FM receiver do not work but I am receiving audio warnings through the speakers (startup sounds, door open, key etc.) I do not know whether if this could be a fault of both the Antenna & CD changer, or if it is a problem with the amp as a whole. Replacing the amp isn't a big feat to me whatsoever cost wise and workwise, but if not necessary, not worth my time. I plan on trying it with an iPod or something of the like that will work with the 30-pin connector in the glovebox but I'd also have to go out of my way to do that too. I don't know if audio alerts are somehow connected themselves to the speakers, or really much about the speakers for that matter. Kinda lost. Trying to go for the less stressful solution here
Put the Car on FM radio - do you have sound ? if not, do you have any station display? (frame should exist) - if there's no sound and no labels / text / numbers the AMP in the boot is dead
If the screen is black and will not work its quite possible the Sirius module self destructed (they do it) - you could loop out its MOST link with a gadget and see if things get better - if dead you can try a second-hand one (with returns policy) and fit that but you'll need someone like BenzNinja to sort your Sirius licence inside the new unit - it ALL sits in the boot near the left rear tail light

you can't go after-market - its an integral part of how the car works
