What is this sensor?

W221 Owners,

I removed my driver's side front wheel liner to find this small sensor (at least that's what I think it is), unconnected to its nearby plug. There also seems to be an unconnected male barb with two things sticking out of it. The attached cord runs up into the engine bay and behind what looks to be a fuse box. Does anyone know what this part is and how it's supposed to connect? I feel like it should be connected properly.

Sure does, and it goes nowhere and it isn't plugged in down here to its hose connection or electrical, but the other electrical line runs up into the engine bay. It says "Mercedes 1 > PBT-GF15 <" on the side of it but I can't get any information on something like that other than this thread which mention the Pneumatic System Equipment, which mine seems to be working fine on my vehicle: https://www.benzworld.org/threads/i-...-what.1323087/

Okay so I've found what it is. I decided to just plug it in and see what message shows on the dash and sure enough it says that I have low washer fluid, so it's attached to that system, but the washer fluid sensor is listed as part 221-820-91-10, which looks like this. This is different than what I pictured. Still stumped for replacement until I can find the part # or diagram.

looks like a combined sensor and washer fluid hose connection for the system....Does yours have a separate system for headlight washing ..separate from the windshield washing system?

Possibly! I spent this weekend replacing my headlight washer because it was leaking, so I have the headlight washing system. Is this system separate from the windshield washing system? This whole time I was expecting them to be on the same system utilizing the same tanks. I never use my washer fluid so I never have to interact with it.

Could this be a washer system heater? The two wires would be the heater that runs inside a water tube that previous owner just cut out when removed this connection from use?

It sure can! I did some sleuthing last night with the help of a user on another forum and found out that's exactly what it is. Part # 221-860-02-92 has this heater component as part of the long hose, see right side of photo. Someone (mechanic or previous owner) seems to have eliminated it from my system for some reason so I need to go in there and find out why they did that and how it is now connected, considering I believe this is supposed to be in between the pump and the supply hose for the windshield washer fluid to the nozzles. Thank you for your help!

yeah that would be a cool cold weather feature. Probably broke at some point and they just removed parts of it and disconnected the electrical plug. Check you manual to see which fuse powers it...

Good sleuthing BTW. !!!!
