ECU repair/replace

its very normal for these engine ECUs to die - its popping up on the forum all day long - same Bosch junk - EVERYTHING THEY MADE IN THE LAST 20 YEARS HAS A DELIBERATE SHORT SHELF LIFE
you can't tell me BMW Bosch ECUs are worse than Merc Bosch ECUs can you ?
the ONLY difference is Mercs tend to be owned by innocent people with too much money, and either out the car or pay a dealer to sort so we never hear about it
whereas every car thief in Europe steals BMWs and don't like to take the thing to a dealership - so YouTube have to build a datacentre every other day to hold all the Bosch engine ECU repair videos....

If you test it “in car” I would do a simple check: Disconnect/reconnect CGW harness a couple of times and see if it changes anything.
CGW in my car (and many others) had unsoldered pins that caused all sorts of errors on many modules. It did not say CGW has a problem but the modules that all connect to it did.
Soldering the pins fixed it all.

I have used other places and been glad to get my broken parts back from them.
Replacment was $1000 two years ago and it lasted a over a year before failing while running. Thinking of getting a second one made for next failure event.
