Interested to see some of the higher mileage turbo W221s. Wondering how long some have made it. Thanks!

Are we talking V12 or V8 or V6 or all of them?

I see 2 facelift S500's in Germany with 312Mm (with major engine work) and 349Mm

I think the intent op is get a reasonable confidence interval on what a alusil lined M278 can be expected to deliver in terms of longevity. It would be very interesting to see if there are any unmodified examples pushing into the 150 thousand K mile range. 2015’and onwards got the steel cylinder liners and don’t have the scoring problem so they would not be relevant information,

so what is a 2012 through 2014 M278 mileage record?

How long have you been running the tune? Oil change intervals? Start-up procedure? Dailying a tuned 221 S65 would be a dream.

Tune is recent. oil changes every 8-10K. I live in the valley of the sun so it doesn't get cold here. Start up consists of push the button, drop in gear and go. I wait for coolant and oil temps to be up before abuse. I abuse her daily. Love it!! Get a 222 car. Sooo worth it.

I have a 2012 model with 112800 miles.

Oil change 5000 miles interval, Mobil 0W-40 oil. Does not burn any oil. Engine is crazy strong. Slip control comes on every time I step on it from start. On wet road cannot even drive it without slip control. .

Knocking the wood that this continues.

My 2007 W221 S600 V12 TT now has 114,000 miles on it. I do Mobile One every oil change and usually at 8000 miles or one year intervals whichever comes first. Plan to have engine looked at for an overhaul in April. Will do engine and trans mounts, oil cooler, all the various tubes and hoses, and lots of while you are in there stuff. Planning to bore scope all 12. Will write up the results in a couple of months.

Car runs great.

My 2010 S65 has 145,000 miles on it and is running fine.

My 2007 had 121,000 miles on it in 2020 when it was rear ended and totaled out by the insurance company. The accident happened 300 miles from home and it drove the 300 miles got me home after the accident with no tailights, dragging the exhaust and a bunch of airbag lights and other warnings dash ... but was driving ok those things aside.

My 2012 S550 m279 has 139k miles, 45k are mine in 6 years. No issues whatsoever. Previous owner dealer maintained to schedule as I have done, 10k oil change. Doesn’t burn a drop. Rock solid car if they are maintained to schedule. Put 2 front struts on for $3k, plus motor and transmission mounts 1k, and I did the brakes, coils, plugs and filters myself, which was relatively easy. Because these cars are nearly fully depreciated the Total Cost of Ownership is cheap for such a luxury performer. Find one with good maintenance records and you will be pleased.

2013 S550 4 matic. 103k miles. I bought it at 62 k miles. Doesn't burn oil. Lots of maintenance. NO OIL OR COOLANT LEAKS! Mechanically perfect.
Took some work to get it to this point. I am very picky though. Anything wrong and I am on it...
It's a third vehicle. I can pull it off the road for extended periods if required.
