spend 24 hours reading and watching videos on https://www.v12icpack.com/ then you'll have a bit of an idea why you need to spend $7000 on some ignition parts - all quite normal on the v12

OP.... so a replacement ME got it to crank and run... though briefly.
Where a coil pack fails and takes out a voltage transformer smart move is to give it the pair of coil packs with the VT. Clark has put considerable effort into making an improved product.
Smarter move being to start with a 222 car with the 279. Individual coils that are not troublesome.
