Preventive Maintenance
connected to what ?
I have the old merc Ipod interface that does nothing with the comand screen on the NTG3.0 older head unit - but toggle the cluster across and you get all the on screen gibberish via Bluetooth even streaming radio stations using a viseeo WMA 1000 (same device old company name....
this was some apple free junk can pre loaded on the phone
iPod interface 2, viseeo tune2air, apple 6S on iOS 13.41 - not bad for local radio station 6000 miles away without a wire

The front struts had been replaced already. Noticed this as the brackets for the wiring were missing and had to order those from the dealer.
That low pressure pump is actually two pumps due to the “saddle” tank design?
The high pressure pumps I actually replaced on my previous car as one of them started making very bad rattle against the cam shaft. Did not know which one so I replaced both. Then thought if it could have been a problem with a lifter… so I know this job too…
How big of a job is the water pump?

But a water pump should not be something that leaves me stranded. It should start giving problems first before gas to be changed so I’ll leave it for now.

It is so strange from Mercedes, I have a 2010 E550 (two years older car) that has Bluetooth for audio playing and it shows what you are listening and then this two years younger S550 has no audio Bluetooth option at all...

coz the system on the w221 was a simple update of nothing, to a wired something by sept 2009
I had a 335d with all the toys including active cruise - (of which only 3 BMWs in the country at the time had it), and that only had the cost option of USB input for model year 2008
BT streaming wasn't really common until a few years later - and Merc are one of the slowest to catch up - DAB wasn't std on theirs till 8 years after BMW made it std equipment in europe

COMAND NTG4 (NTG4-W204 and NTG4-W212)
Comand NTG4 first made its appearance in the W204 C class at launch around 2007. It was the first Mercedes system to support a fully integrated iPod / USB system called the Media Interface, and Bluetooth telephony within the head unit. It also has an integrated Hard Disk for the Sat Nav map, and music, and a PCMCIA slot for adding music files.
It is also the system used in the Mercedes SLS, and was the system supplied in the W212 E class and W207 E class and W218 CLS class Mercedes Benz vehicles, in which a 6" 480x240 resolution screen was used. The screen in the W204 is a 5" less resolution screen.
In the W204 the COMAND screen electrically folds up and down, in other vehicles it is fixed.
Its main weaknesses are (a) 5 Digit post-code support not 7 digit. (b) The Bluetooth phone system will not transfer the address book from most phones, and so you need the optional Comfort Phone system and a phone cradle or bluetooth adapter (c) PCMCIA and not USB or SDcard.
NTG4 has been replaced by NTG4.5 in W204/W207/W218/W212 and it is possible to replace the system in the W207/W218/W212 certainly for Model Year 2010 onward vehicles.
It is not possible to do this in the W204 because the whole dashboard changes.
The map updates etc are different for the W204 version (NTG4-W204) to the W212/W207 (NTG4-W212) systems.
It is somewhat like a cost reduced NTG3 system.
- it is MOST bus based
- the display is physically separate
- it has a PCMCIA slot where you can plug in a PCMCIA device (or another with an adapter) full of MP3 music
- The map is held on an internal Hard disk, again updated from DVD
- It has a separate rotary controller like the NTG3.
- It has bluetooth telephone support built in, but its not particularly good at downloading the address book properly without the extra comfort-phone option.
- It supports the Media Interface - an optional interface to connect iPod (with Video support), USB, or a 3.5mm aux input. (This is Mercedes option code 518)
- I believe it is made by Mitsubishi.
COMAND Online NTG4.5 and NTG4.7
Comand NTG4.5 was the 'main-stream' Comand system until 2015/2016 and the first to be known as Comand Online because it can connect to Mercedes Benz online internet services via certain bluetooth mobile phones.
It has a fixed 7" colour display with 800x480 pixel display.
It first became available in late 2011 with the facelfit W204 C class, and the W212 E, W207 E and W212 CLS classes along with the R172 SLK.
Mercedes Benz rolled this COMAND system into all the standard (i.e not S/CL) vehicles and including the W176 A class W246 B class, W166 ML, R172 SLK, R231 SL, W204 C (from MY2012), W212/W207 E (from 2011 in Europe) and the MY2015 G Class update
The maps are stored on a hard disk, and although the map update DVD is available cheaply, a PIN code is needed which can be bought from Mercedes Benz Dealers
The system supports (optionally) the Media Interface (fully integrated iPod kit), integrated dual-tuner DAB digital radio, Harmon Kardon (option 810) and B&O (option 811) depending on which model series it is integrated in. It also supports Digital TV.
It supports 7 digit post codes, and downloadable applications allowing you to use facebook and other similar web sites on the COMAND screen.
The initial version of NTG4.5 had a brown colour scheme on the display, and this was replaced for Model Year 2013 with a grey colour scheme. All that changed was the software for this.
NTG4.7 is the internal name for the 2nd generation of NTG4.5 hardware which supports Bluetooth PAN which allows online access using an iPhone and has an extra USB on the back for live-traffic. The NTG4.7 hardware is different to the NTG4.5 hardware.

I checked it out today and I am connected via Multi Media but stil no info on the screen. Below is what I get...Maybe my unit is outdated? Also I have included a picture of the unit that I have. I am thinking about purchasing yours at this point.

its almost identical to the bovee mba3000 - so it maybe
the car doesn't understand the old apple idea (on the ntg3.5 cars) seems odd but possible
the device needs a firmware update - there were 3 during the viseeo's life time (as the bovee is the same product - but came later - and likely came with later FW)
aux never went to comand on older ntg3.0 cars (only the cluster if you had merc ipod interface option)
fake apple connectors are often missing features...
viseeo FW
WMA1000 V322 Fixed Kenwood player but need an adapter to convert the data
WMA1000 V323 solves no sound issue in Audi Dension Gateway 500 with Android phones.
WMA1000 V325 solves "can't play YouTube" issue.

I use this mainly just to listen internet radio stations and Youtube. It does not display the artist in the radio station or Youtube but I can use the Next-Previous function of the Comand Knob. It does show the artist and title of the one song I have and I'm sure it would show all titles and info of all songs in the iPhone or iPad if I had those stored in it, but I don't do music on my phone.
Sound quality is very good, probably just a little better than the Monster adapter has that I used.

Yes, it is a simple sensor but they do go bad from heat (where I live) and definitely will get this replaced and I will use the part for MB dealer for it with the higher cost, but I need a reliable sensor.
Bought the crank sensor and then came to find out that 2012 S550 does not have any room between the secondary fire wall and the engine to get my hands to the sensor. The 2013 model had good room for the job but now it seems I have to do it from the bottom side. Big stupid job for the simple sensor replacement if indeed the exhaust has to be dropped.
