I could use some help: With my Mercedes (W221 S 350 petrol, 2013), I keep finding oil in the control units, especially at the connection of the large plug.
How can something like this be fixed? Does anyone have experience with this?
That’s classic Mercedes. Oil travels up the wiring harness from a leaking sensor usually the camshaft or crankshaft position sensor. The oil gets into the control unit pins by capillary action. You’ll need to replace the leaking sensor, flush the harness, and clean the control unit plugs. If you leave it, the control unit will eventually fail.
Do you see signs of oil in the camshaft position sensor harness or in the camshaft adjuster harness?
There was a "fix" with the M272/273 where an additional harness was added to the camshaft adjuster harness. Im not sure about the camshaft position sensors.
It looks like its the same harness for multiple engines, 272, 273, 276 etc.
