2014 S Class Ordering Information
I placed an order for a 2014 S Class with the nappa leather option. I wish the designo interior option was available?
Does anyone know if it has the dashboard etc wrapped in leather or is that only in designo? If not whats included in the Nappa leather option?
I am disappointed that the headliner is not dinamica with the nappa leather but a standard fabric headliner.

I for one am waiting for the designo. Unfortunately, I am told it won't be available until CY2014.

Based on the order guide it should be available as the guide does not show delayed availability for the 502 option. Who told you about the availability in CY2014? I can't find a SA who is knowledgeable in the new S Class.
I recently helped a friend buy a Nissan and it was a far better experience in terms of customer service and knowledgeable staff. I had someone call me on 4 different occasions to follow up. MB sales staff is horrible. I had a better experience buying a $25K car than I do when buying a $130K+ car. With MB it's like they are doing me a favor by selling me a car at MSRP.

If you look at the Order Guide the only Designo interior that is available is the Deep Sea Blue which is consistent with what I was told before the order guide came out. The information did not come from my dealer. I was able to obtain it from other sources within MB not at the dealer level.

Thanks. In a non-designo interior with Nappa leather, whats on the dash, door panels etc - MB Tex? or standard leather?

That is again why buying the new model in the first year is a bad idea overall. I went through the same thing with a W221 in 2006 and ended up getting a 750 instead. Half the options weren't available, dealer knew nothing, and there were so many itching buyers willing to pay MSRP that it felt like I had to fight and beg for the car. In retrospective, it was the best thing that happened to me considering the quality of MY2007.

I heard that M-B might be putting the 9G tranny into mid 2014 build W222's (probably 2015 MY). If so and it's something you care to get, it might be worth waiting..... though that's a big leap of patience.

I'm not sure but I believe the "leather" padding on the W221 dash (standard) is MB Tex?
I heard that M-B might be putting the 9G tranny into mid 2014 build W222's (probably 2015 MY). If so and it's something you care to get, it might be worth waiting..... though that's a big leap of patience.

You are right in terms of waiting - it is a BIG leap of patience. I am disappointed in the way MB launches their products with things not being available. I ordered a GL last year and after delays ended up switching to MY14 with delivery in September.
GL ordering process ate away all of my patience and that's why its even more frustrating with the S. MB is not offering (in US) all interior options that are available in Europe. Ones that are available have delayed availability. 2 of 5 Nappa leather options and 1 of 1 designo - Not available.

It's ridiculous M-B will release an *S CLASS* with a decade old tranny and wait one year to give it the new 9G to coincide with the launch of the *C Class* who will obviously be the one to wear it as a prize. I liked when things trickled down, which was the case before the W222, as the W221 launched all new engines, design language, and the list goes on. Don't even get started on the W220 which was so breakthrough and all-new that it was a bleeding-edge quality disaster.
