Got the update that the car is going to be built in the second week of November. Given what I read from others on the forum it should be on the ship around that time. So hope to have it by mid December or late December. Cant wait to get the car.

The 10% is the standard 7% MSRP discount for any EDP plus local dealer discounts. My California dealer gave me an extra 2% but you also have to add in the $925 destination charge discount so that gets is really close to 10%.
Kratos - If you want to go to Germany to pick it up, you can get 9%. You might even be able to switch your current build to EDP if you want. However, if you are still looking at after the first of the year for delivery if I recall, that is going to the better than EDP and shipping to your neck of the woods.

A few days after my order my dealer called saying black poplar was not available and if I could settle for burl, but I asked to see what he could do. He gave another call and had it confirmed.

Not true. I honestly think it depends on how much pull your dealer has. I ordered my car late September and I'm picking up mid December with exclusive and black wood.

if your dealer can get MB to give them access to a particular car that has the trim & leather assigned to it, can be done. Just a matter of how much pull your dealer/salesman has with MB and how much he is willing to work for you.
With certain equipment that is running low like sport pkg and exclusive trim if you want an early car you have to find a car that MB has assigned those aspects to on the production line. Color will be at your discretion.

Cars slated production date is tomorrow, I am sending in the credit app on December 1st.
From what I have read the lease rates are terrible. If they are really bad I don't mind loosing my 2500 deposit and moving to a M6 gran coupe. The local dealer has a black on black for about $1950 with tax in Texas. Would love to have the S Class but don't want to get hit with bad numbers. I have an aston martin virago coupe for my weekend car and wanted a good daily driver. The M6 is closer to the aston than the S, I will test drive the M6 and see. I have never been able to own a BMW for more than few months.
Any thoughts ?

Sure, just buy the car versus the lease.
Would you really change from the car you want to one you don't just because of the money factor on a lease? That seems akin to walking into a dealership asking, "What kind of car can I get for $499 a month"? Loans rates with banks and credit unions are quite good (1.74 through 2.5 APR) versus the equivalent APR of the MB lease of 7.5%. I like no more than 3 years but you can choose. I know I will get pounced upon by the "lease versus buy" crowd, but the whatever residual value the lease would have the car will still have when you trade it in 2 or 3 years. Also, the business reimbursement advantages are still there with a qualified expense plan for the company car if you go that route. (Of course, consult your own advisors as YMMV).

Looking into the company car route next week. Purchase is also an option worried about the first year bugs. Also one more thing weighing down is the slew of new things coming in the 2015 model the touch pad, hud. I am 32 so the M6 gran coupe is more age appropriate but S is more of the ultimate expression of design and engineering from a car company.
I haven't decided yet lets see what happens. I am happy either dealing with these first world problems.

However, BMW do have great leases. If your company car is a lease, you can definitely get more car for your buck at BMW as the lease # on the S are horrid at launch.

You already have a sports car so maybe the S will be a better fit for diversity's sake. However, the M6 GC will drive monumentally more dynamically and superior to the S, not to mention is naturally a "sexier" and more exotic design. Having an Aston already, the stately and sophistication of the S might provide better contrast, not to mention the added comfort and soothingness.

I test drove the M6 GC, was a decent ride. Does look sexy and stylish. The ride was not terrible it was very well done but definitely no S Class. S550 or the S63 is just a very well done car with an incredible sound system. The M6 is age appropriate sexy, fun to drive with a so so sound system.
This is what I decided I will submit the credit app on Monday to Mercedes if the numbers are bad then I will switch to the M6 GC. Credit Score is 760+ on all the three agencies so I am hopping to be getting pretty decent numbers.
