MB Select for S-Class and CLA
Just read it again.....I think you may be right.

No one is getting $2500 off the price of their car. As the article clearly said, this is to keep customers with issues happy. The above and beyond stuff. Think of it like the Ritz-Carlton customer service. Last I recall, every employee in a Ritz-Carlton has the automatic authority to spend up to $1000 to keep a guest happy for above and beyond things. You had to wait for your room longer than promised or the "window washers made a nasty racket"-type stuff. These types of programs are not to simply to tack on a discount, but to handle customer issues to make sure you walk away from the dealership happy even if something went wrong. Think of it as your long-reserved table in a nice restaurant was not available and they put you by the kitchen. You may not come back but when the manager comes over and tells you he comped your dinner, you will certainly give them another chance and come back.

Still wish we could haggle price a little though (just for the principle of it). Lol
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

I don't recall if you were buying it outright or not, but I wonder if you decide to finance some of it, would asking them what they can do for you help when you suggest you can go finance it through your bank instead of MB? I do not recall this for certain, but I thought the dealer made some money when you financed the car through MB Financial. If you finance it through your bank, the dealer would stand to lose more (if my assumption that the dealer makes something off the MB financing). I wonder if they would be willing to give you a break on the price (for the principle) if you say, "I want to finance this car through you but I need $2500 off the price otherwise I will just go to my bank" Just a thought...

Interesting tactic. Could work.... I am going to catalog this into my arsenal. When my car gets here, I'm going to use every trick I hear to try to get something. LOL!
I'm rich enough to not have to haggle anything, but for some reason my mind just can't let people take me to bank on any deal (even if it's 5 dollars). I still like to get something in any transaction. I don't know how to explain it......just have this mental complex against being cheated and laughed at as you walk away....
Also I agree with Kratos - just because you can afford to buy the car - does not mean we should pay MSRP. A lot of dealers expect us to pay MSRP while making us feel thy are doing us a favor by selling us a car at MSRP.

I'm gonna "bluff" and say my credit union will give me 2% rate on the loan, and I'll use the dealer if they can match (for convenience purposes). With an 800 score, 45K down, and a straight face, I don't think they'll call my bluff....
