Winter Setup on S63
Hello All...
Since this is the First Year of the AMG models having 4matic, I am considering one in lieu of the S550 ordered. I live on top of a ridge so winters can be a little challenging. I run Blizzaks on my 19" AMG wheels for winter now on my S550, and 20's in the summer. If I understand it, the ratio of Frt/Rear split of the s63 is different from the standard 4matic setup....
Is this car really capable for northeast winter driving (I have other vehicles for the real stormy stuff, but like to drive the S to my other offices about 1.5 Hours away...)? What setup works best?
Any ideas appreciated!
Bruce

Here's the link to the thread about the setup I have planned for my s63.
https://mbworld.org/forums/new-s-cla...ter-setup.html
The power is 67% rear bias which is different than the standard 4 matics. I am not sure if the e63 have the same bias, but if they do, maybe you can check one out on the next snowy day.
From what I have been told, tires make all the difference, I see threads on the c63 forums where people drive their AMG's in the snow, and when I owned a e63s, people said it wouldn't be a problem.
My opinion is since you do have other cars for the big storms, go ahead with the s63 on the proper setup and if it struggles, drive it on all the days it doesn't snow or sleet.
