2014 S550 Un-Diagnosed Software failure

It is a long story, and I am trying to get the dealership to do the right thing, but I have a family member (who is not a member of mbworld.org) who bought a 2014 S550 (delivery was 3 weeks ago). The car has had system crash twice in less than 300 miles. I mean blue screen of death type software crash. Before I go public on how the dealership has responded, has anyone else had a failure of this type? They admit it is throwing codes, but they "cannot understand what the failure is". I am more angry than my family member, but I want to do my homework before I go to MB NA. Any utter failures out there? Red screen on the dash? Engine shut down? It flashes, engine stops...screen blanks out, and then starts again! I got involved and told the dealership they need to step up, but they have until tomorrow to diagnose and fix the car. They have had it if for a week so far. I do not want to totally trash the dealer if they do the right thing, but I have more than a few emails and phone calls that tell me that We would have been better off buying a Tesla. I am amazed at the indifference so far from the dealership given the importance of this new model launch. The W222 was supposed to be the Alpha and Omega! Any help or information is sincerely appreciated. Thanks

Haven't had any issues along these lines you mentioned.

Sounds like you better be familiar with your state's lemon laws.

Already have that T'd up and file created. I really hope MB does the right thing. 300 miles and a car that cannot be fixed!!?!?!....that is bad press by anyone's standard. I just think it is unreasonable and unprofessional to be a Beta site at a cost of $120k. If it goes south with the dealership today, I will post the email thread. I have had GREAT service from this dealership for over 20 years, but they recently sold and I am finding out that 20 years of customer loyalty means very little.

Your family member bought a first year vehicle so there are going to be issues no matter how much testing they do before the car is pumped out of the production line. 20K or 200K its the same thing, first year problems.

Agreed on year one issues and this is not the first time we have had a year one. Heck, my CLS55 was only made for one year. Rattles, leaks, odd noise...no problem. Part of the territory and expected with warranty service performance. System failure at 60 mph on the Freeway is not part of the bargain. It becomes a major safety issue. My family member will not drive the car until problem is diagnosed and fixed. I would not either. Who would put their kids in a car with an acknowledged software failure and no known fix? I will say, they have been a lot more proactive today than in days prior. Snow here today, so I imagine not a lot of test driving being done.

If the problem persists you can lemon law it depending on your state laws. In the meantime they should have given you a loaner vehicle and cut your payments during the duration that it is at the dealer. (at the very least). I would also ask for more, i.e free scheduled maintenance service for 3 years but thats just me.

Dealer has said they fixed it as of 5:30 tonight. I actually believe the posts on MBWorld put a fire under them to raise the level of service. Thanks to all members and to the Board. I hope to have details on the fix to share soon. This worked out and I had really low expectations for it to end this way. Thanks to all.
