When will I be able to order a 2015 S550?

I am moving with deliberate speed and deliberate consideration towards ordering a 2014 S550. This car is for my wife (although she insists it is for me). She will be traveling during summer and since there is currently a 6 month wait, we were considering waiting until Spring to place the order so that the car would arrive around the time she will have completed her travels.

My problem is, I am not sure I want to order a 2014 that will not arrive until around the time the 2015s will be available. If I were walking on a car lot and negotiating for a Toyota or Ford mini van, sure, I would be willing purchase last year's model at a deep discount... but, somehow, I really don't think when I place my order for an S550 I will get a discount on a 2014 for waiting.

If I had some idea about WHEN I could order a 2015 S550 and WHEN I might be able to drive that car, then I could make an informed decision about waiting to order a 2015 vs ordering a 2014. Any ideas?

My experience has been that they start accepting orders in the spring, around April and production and delivery is in the summer, around July.

Szidon, I'm in the same boat. I have a an order pending for a February build with anticipated delivery in April or May. Having learned that there will be several equipment changes between the 2014 and 2015 MY, I've decided to go ahead and give up my slot and place a new order for one of the first 2015s. Even if I won't end up taking delivery until the fall of 2014, given the price, I'd rather wait the extra few months and know that I'm buying the most up to date version of the car...

I'll post back if I receive any updates with regard to when 2015 orders open up.

Good luck!

From what has been discussed in a similar thread I started last week, it appears that the COMAND controller will switch to the new touchpad as featured in the upcoming S65 and C-Class. It's also said to have an available head-up display. That's about all I have so far; however, there may be a few new trim options and (hopefully) new standard wheel options. I suspect more information won't be available in that regard for a few more months...

I was a bit confused what the lack of info from the local sales dudes I have been talking with. I emailed a Mercedes dealership in my hometown. They said that, since Monday, "As of right now the order banks are shutdown to wait for them to convert to the model year 15 orders." I guess I will not need to wait until summer... but they do not know when they will be able to order again.

Now I am faced with the issue of do I order the S550 or the S500 Hybrid. I plan on having the car at least 10 years.

Is the S500 Hybrid going to be out for the 2015 model year?

I have read 3 answers to that question: yes, no, and maybe.
Actually, 4 answers... the fourth: yes, but maybe not in the US.

At Detroit they're saying the S65 and S600 will be on sale in Spring along with the rest of the 2015 S-Class lineup so you lucky guys won't have to wait much longer for the info.
