It'll do more than that. But if you sliced the sidewall on a freshly cut curb, depending on the type of run flat it may not be drivable. Also your limited to a 100mile range and 50mph for most run flats. Exceed either one of those and your asking for trouble. So for the most part they work as advertised. They're just not bulletproof.

The finance manager at my dealership just emailed me and said that the warranty will cover any tire mounted on the factory rims. Is he shooting me bologna?

Print that email and hold home to it when the time comes. Then get yourself some decent tires and the Continental tire fix kit.

I'm just so anxious to see what the ride will be like without runflats. I need to call my local dealer and see what he says on this subject.

Did that on the SL and the ride is just smoother with more capable tires. Definitely worth it.

In my case I just got a new set of wheels as well and used the original rims for snow tires.

The Pirelli snows are about as smooth as the runflats.

This car does not have traditional runflat tires, these are extended mobility tires. There is a difference.

Hmmm. Looked just like the Goodyear runflats on our BMW. The tires on the SL were regular runflats as well.

Maybe they are, I attended a presentation about this car from an mbusa rep and these tires were billed as "something better" than a normal run flat. I notice you can buy a sealant kit that fits in the trunk should you switch to a regular tire.

I'm waiting to hear back from mine. That sounds too good to be true. When it's that "too good to be true", it usually is.

But if it's given to me in writing, I'll be thrilled.

I doubt it, unless purchased from the service dept.

I guess the difference is less run flat distance in exchange for better ride.
