Carbon Ceramic Braking System

Hi,

Going through the process of finalizing my 2015 S65 AMG build. The current build sheet looks as follows:

033 designo Mocha Black Metallic
561 AMG Exclusive nappa leather black/black
H10 AMG carbon fiber/designo piano lacquer in black
773 Exterior Carbon Fiber Package
413 Panorama Sunroof
71U Black Nappa Leather Headliner
867 SPLITVIEW
B07 AMG Carbon Ceramic Braking System
696 AMG multi-spoke forged wheels, with ceramic high-gloss polish finish

The dealer warns me that the carbon ceramic brakes (B07) come standard with special sound Fx (namely, screeching noise) when wet. Unfortunately, there are no cars available with these brakes to validate such a warning.

Anybody has real-life experience with carbon ceramic brakes?

Had CCBs on most of my cars since 2008.

Never any issues, older cars had these brakes with "grabby" feel but it took little time to get used to it.
New cars have excellent feel,no noise,no brake dust (like conventional) and work perfectly.
I am definitely ordering them for S63 Coupe coming this Fall,I will delay order if necessary to get them on my car.

Thanks for the commentary (and pictures)! Sounds like this will be money well spent.

Plus you won't have to worry about warped rotors which is common on other MB cars.

There is an issue with the new S Class and brake screeching... People have commented on it here in this forum... But doesn't pertain to carbon ceramic brakes per se... Maybe this is what your dealer meant and was confused?

I have ceramics on my Continental SuperSports and have never had a problem, wet, dry, on track, off track...

Only downside to carbon ceramic brakes is the maintenance replacements which cost $$$$, that being said carbon ceramic brakes should last the life of your vehicle given "normal" driving conditions.

The sqreeching sounds may only appear when the brakes are cold.

They are designed to work with high temperatures.
