Metallic black vs Obsidian black

It's definitely a dark gray metallic. I wouldn't call it black at all. I could see how on a cloudy day that it may look black, but it really isn't. Still looks amazing from what I have seen thus far.
Sunlight definitely changes the appearance of Magnetite Black from steel gray in bright sunlight, to darker gray and even black in the evening/night.

Attached are some pics that I took with my Nikon to get some good detail of the car and the paint. This is the only 2020 Maybach S650 in the US with a Brabus 900 Appearance package. Brabus has no approval for the 900 Engine in the States, so this car was fit with the full exterior conversion. If anyone is interested in converting their standard S class to a Maybach, I have all the Factory Maybach parts listed in the Marketplace section, the front upper Grill w/Distronic, the front bumper, the rear bumper insert with the Maybach Exhaust tips, and the complete wheel and tire set with the TPM still installed. All parts are painted Obsidian Black.
So, to the original poster, if you really like black...........consider Uni Black (020), with glasscoating for protection.

If you like dark but not black, then Canvasite blue might also be an option?

[the repeated TT pics might be explained otherwise, but I am not related to them in any way; they always have a nice collection of high-end MB and AMG cars for sale in many colo(u)rs, so great place to compare!]
While Ruby black looks ok with the body style I think it will drop the resale value as badly as the Almadine Black (same thing) on the W220.
If you don't like plain black, go for a Designo color (I used to have a mocha black, stunning color). Otherwise magnetite is actually very nice; just not a deep black.
Why do think Ruby Black will drop the resale value. I am looking at a Ruby Black 2020 S560 here in SoCal.
Thx
I know that you asked Wolfman who will give you a better answer but here is my spin on it as somebody who also likes Ruby Black. It's kind of like manual transmission cars. The take rate is low because most people prefer other more standard colors, so in the used market you have a much smaller pool of people that are going to be interested in the car. Sure the ones that like it like it but the vast majority don't. The smaller pool of buyers will depress the resale price.
Ruby Black is such a stunning color that I ordered both my 2016 S550 4matic and my 2019 S63 AMG in Ruby Black with Beige/Espresso interior. Absolutely stunning color combo. And yes I care about resale but I care more about the fact that I believe the color and color combo is absolutely stunning.
