Note that you can adjust the brightness of both the regular screen and SPLITSCREEN and change the setting from day to night. Adjusting the brightness setting also changes the contrast. It is difficult to tell if both pictures were taken under identical settings.

What is more apparent in person that is difficult to see in the pictures, is that with the SPLITVIEW, you can see, if you look very closely, that it is every other pixel.

There is a excellent CNET video that shows the SPLITSCREEN in the S550 in action and how the screen looks from the drivers seat vs the passenger seat where a movie is playing. The camera pans across the screen showing how the picture changes. I do not have the link to the video, just Google "Mercedes SPLITSCREEN" and the CNET YouTube video is the first entry shown. It is an informative video.

I wished I had SPLITVIEW on my car but I am in Western PA. It is illegal in PA and my dealer advised against it since they would have to "turn it off" at delivery.
Someone did mentioned on this forum that one could take it to an out of state dealer to get them to "activate" it. I guess next time when I buy my next S class I can get an out of state dealer to activate it even if I buy it in PA.

The CNET video was not clear on what functions can be used from the passenger side of SPLITVIEW. Only the entertainment functions can be used separate from the driver's side. These include Audio, TV, video, internet, radio, memory card, media register, media interface, Mercedes Apps, USB or AUX. The CNET video gave the impression only movies could be shown on the passenger side. While Navigation cannot be used by the passenger, the passenger can use the Google Maps App to select a destination and the driver will be asked if he wants the destinations sent to his navigation screen. Lots of cool options with the split screen.

So if all goes according to plan, I should be picking up my s550 tomorrow. The anticipation is killing me and I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight! ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

That's awesome meldour!
The manual is helpful, but there are certain topics that I wish would be discussed in more detail. For example, reading about the Highbeam Assist Plus and Night Vision Plus is rather confusing they way it is explained.
