2013 Porsche Cayenne
New member here saying Hi

Hello Everyone.. New member here! Been reading the forums for a while, just haven't posted anything yet...

I ordered the 2015 S550 Sedan in beginning of February. Spoke with the dealer today, he said that they are going to receive majority of their 2015 orders in June/July (this is a change since initially I was told it would be November). I ordered mine with Magic Body Control and apparently vehicles with this option will take a little longer to be delivered because of a shortage of this feature or something... So I am praying that I'll have my beauty by August.

Below is my build:

  • Obsidian Black Metallic
  • 19-inch twin 5-spoke alloy wheels
  • Porcelain/Black Exclusive Nappa Leather
  • designo Brown Sunburst Myrtle wood
  • Sport Package
  • Premium 1 Package
  • Rear Seat Package
  • Warmth and Comfort Package
  • Air Balance Package
  • Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound system
  • Rear Seat Entertainment system
  • Heads Up Display
  • Heated windshield
  • Driver Assistance Package
  • Surround View System
  • Night View Assist PLUS
  • MAGIC BODY CONTROL

Can't wait to for this thing to arrive!

Congratulations! It appears that you ordered the "works". Since yours will be a 2015 build, I think you can now also order it with Heads Up Display (HUD) but I'm not certain. That is a neat option if available.

Yes. I forgot the mention that I did order the HUD display as well. No pricing on this as of yet. The 2015 model should also come with the touch pad.

2015 S550 ordered
Fairly new here too. Your build is almost identical to my 2015 order. Only difference is I ordered Ruby Black and the Black Poplar wood trim and I didn't get the rear entertainment system. I'm doing ED and have a delivery date scheduled of June 26 but let's see when it gets closer. I hope there are no delays. I haven't had any pricing confirmed yet.

You know you will lose trunk space with the 3D sound system , right? I don't have it but I lost some space because of the reclining read seats with the chauffeur package ( but not the exec seats).

I can fit two full size suitcases ( one flat and one on its side) and two small carry on bags. Figure on one carry on with the sound option.

I will take a pic of the luggage I place in the car tomorrow.

The loss in trunk space is the main reason I did not order anything other heated rear seats.

A quick comment regarding the SPLITVIEW option (not sure why it is always spelled in capital letters in the official docs):

Due to the screen being capable of displaying 2 distinct images, it may seem like it has lower resolution compared to the standard screen without SPLITVIEW.

Well, I read about this. And from what I gathered, you only lose resolution quality when this option is turned on. When it's off, you get the full res. I figure I"ll only use this option when my wife and I go on a road trip. Otherwise, most of the time, this option will stay off.

I'm ok with less trunk space. We use the Cayenne for heavy luggage loads anyway. But I love to have awesome sound, and the upgraded sound system is worth every penny from what I read.

I have the 3D sound system, reclining seats, and a fridge. I still have enough trunk space for my needs. The 3D system is worth it in my opinion.

Can I ask you to take a pic of your trunk and post it here? I'd like to see what it looks like.

meldour,

Where did you learn about the dynamic change in screen resolution when the SplitView is turned on and off? Accordingly to the information I received from an MB dealer, a SplitView-compatible screen always operates at half of the standard resolution, regardless whether this feature is ON or OFF.

I have the Splitview option on my S63 build as well, do you know if it's a dramatic difference between having it and not having it? I don't want to lose too much quality by having this option.

That's exactly what I'm also trying to figure out. I have it on my ML63, however unless I do a side-by-side comparison with a car without SplitView, it is impossible to assess the material difference. I will try and stop by at my dealer this week to compare SplitView and non-SplitView screens. Some folks I talked to claimed that SplitView comes with pixel lag and noticeable Fresnel lens effect, hence some real-life research will definitely be required.

Interesting...let us know what you find. I'm thinking if it's a noticeable enough difference, I may remove it from my build since I'll probably rarely ever have the need to use it.

Yes. Please let us know. I am kinda getting worried about this feature now.

I did read on other forums somewhere people claiming that when SplitView is off, you get the full resolution. But I guess maybe that was just speculation.

So I ordered this car back in early February, finally today I got a call from the dealer who confirmed that he has a VIN number for my vehicle at this point. So he says by the end of this month he should have this car. I'm in eastern PA. Getting close!

If you look here, the 13th post down, I have posted pictures that show the difference in the new S class between the SPLITVIEW and no SPLITVIEW.

https://mbworld.org/forums/new-s-cla...-begins-3.html

It looks obvious in the pictures and side by side but, unless you've looked at this in detail, it is probably pretty hard to tell. I've seen it enough I can tell when I get in a car but absent a sense of neurotic behavior, it will be fine.

The resolution can not be changed. Regardless if you have turned SPLITVIEW on or off, the resolution is reduced.

I actually declined this option. Also, in PA its illegal

It is actually a pretty cool option.

It really depends on where your priorities are. I suppose you, like me, was more interested in the higher resolution.

Without a side by side comparison, I did not notice any degradation in picture quality with SPLITSCREEN. The maps and audio screens looked bright and very sharp. I ordered the option my car for the conveniences split screen offers when driving with a passenger, which for me is most of the time. I suspect that if there is a difference, it is probably like using an iPad without the retina display. When displaying maps for instance, the display looks great. If you put an iPad with retina display next to it, you will notice a difference. However, unless you are viewing high definition movies, the higher resolution is hardly noticeable. If you want the convenience of SPLITSCREEN, you will not be disappointed with the optics.

Now I can tell the difference. Thanks! In any case, I did not get the split view.
