Customized Special Order 2015 S550 - The wait begins
#329
Today has been an amazing day and so much happening. Spent about 4 hours at the dealership so by the time I left is was fairly dark outside.
Have not really had time to drive and play with the car. Am having difficulty trying to get pictures to accurately reflect the true color of the leather.
Here are a few pictures. I will post some more pictures tomorrow.

LM, it's a gorgeous car and you must be excited to have finally taken delivery of it. I love the additional areas with the auburn brown leather. The armrests in brown just brings the interior up a notch above the nut brown/black colour locations; well worth every single penny and the wait in my opinion.
Also, two questions. In the past posts, you mentioned that the V12 grill required an adjustment to the night view assist camera location. Did they still need to make such a change? Also, how much did the S-Coupe steering wheel cost you; was it a dealer accessory or done at the factory?
Hope you enjoy your car for the years to come.

Lovin,
Words just do not describe the beauty of your car. I can only come up with STUNNING! And I have been told I am not usually at a loss for words.
CONGRATS on surviving the long wait time for the custom beauty!

Got to stay married so I followed corporate EWT protocol.

First congrats--always exciting to pick up a new car! Have fun driving it home.
As to condensation, I've never had that issue in mine. May want to swing by dealer in morning before you leave and show them pics.

The S-Coupe steering wheel was done at the factory. It was a no cost change that was able to be made because my car had the factory custom interior codes of 021, PA1 and PA4. Without these codes, the change can not be made.
I suspect that may change in 2016 in the US but I don't know for sure. This change has already occurred in Europe. All AMG sedans or 550 sedans with the AMG package get this steering wheel as of the second half of the model year, but not in the US yet.
I suppose one can order that steering wheel yourself but it is very expensive, several thousands of dollars for both the wheel and air bag.
Below is my Netstar Vii report showing the codes.

As it turns out, because the steering wheel and air bag are life safety items, nothing can be ordered that is not already approved by the government testing agencies. That included even the color of the stitching. So, while I could change the color of the stitching on the seats if I wanted, I could not change them on the air bag or steering wheel unless that color had previously been approved by the government agencies. MB was not willing to go through that approval process for a different color and was not wiling to do anything that was not previously approved.
That is what lead to the color of the wheel, although I am not sure I even would have wanted it in Auburn Brown. I think you need the contrast, IMHO.

Bad day for exterior pictures as no sun, but here are some more interior shots. I'll get the exterior on the next sunny day.

I will be damned that's nice!! starting to get an idea of the brown color leather.....looks rich and dark eh? the backseat looks incredible as well, I don't remember if my AC/rest button are the same in one though......is that for '15's? maybe I'm just imagining things or never paid that much attention to my own car haha
what do you think of the burmeister?
some nice HRE's would REALLY do that thing some justice
thanx for continuing to share

I don't know how many of you have every looked at the gadgets that come with the rear entertainment options but I just thought I'd show them.
They are pretty cool.

Headphone, ash tray and remote
Open headphone case, open ash tray and remote

I really like my Burmester 3-D system. That being said, when I first heard the standard system, I thought it was the upgraded system.
I know when I go into stores to buy speakers for my home, the audio guys keep telling me how much of a difference they hear in the more expensive speakers and I keep thinking they are nuts because I really don't hear much of a difference.
That being said, I do hear a huge difference even between the upgraded W221 system and the standard W222. The W222 is much superior in my opinion.
As for the 3-D, I am sure there is something there that is better but I'd have to hear them side by side to know for sure.
I do really think the car sounds great... but that doesn't mean the standard system doesn't also sound great.
Also, I am not one of the audiophile guys, so I am probably not the best person to ask.
