In the Coupe they are matching the brown with the porcelain although mostly porcelain and very little brown, and not intermingled.

Very excited this morning. Knowing my car was finished, I was waiting for it to go from B4 to B5 status.

That did not happen this morning. It went to B6, which frankly, I did not know even existed.

As we can now see, there is an additional code which is B6 FACTORY INVOICED. This must be something that shows up on custom orders.

Don't know if the B6 code is newer but on my '14 S550 4Matic from the December '14 Netstar report shows B6 as Factory Invoiced. It was a Euro Delivery car.

Interesting. I had never seen that code before but also, never had a Euro delivery. Mine went from B4 directly to B6. Did your car do that as well or did you also get a B5 along the way to B6?

It's early Saturday, and I wonder if it could get to B7 today. Not sure what happens on the weekends in Germany with respect to these cars.

Attached is the image showing it going from B5 to B6.

I wonder if what is happening is that the car is being invoiced in Germany because of the ED. There is a substantial amount of time between the car being completed and invoiced date. I assume that is because of when you picked your car up.

Because I have a custom interior, maybe that special cost is being invoiced in Germany as well. I really don't know, but it doesn't matter really.

I just need a B7 now. Our emotions are so funny. Yesterday, I was so thankful for my B6, today I am on the hunt for a B7.

I need a life.

Somebody is working on Saturday in Germany because my car went to B7 status today.

What I noticed in Netstar is that they added a notation on 10/17 that was not there yesterday which says "PFD SET".

Does anyone have this on their Netstar tracking or know what it means?

I don't know what it means but I had too

Got an e-mail from a very nice member of this forum who did some looking around and advised that "PFD" means Production Finish Date.

My thought exactly, and the reason is that MB, as much as we hate to admit it, is CUTTING CORNERS ON LUXURY! It started back in the 1980's with GM cars, when no matter what interior color you ordered half of the interior was black. If they only had to make half as many bits and pieces in a color other than black, that was an attractive cost savings to GM.

I have always been a huge fan of FULL color interiors. In the 1970's, you could order a new 450SL with an all red interior--and it was stunning. With MB, right up until a few years ago, if you ordered an interior color other than black, the entire interior was that color or, at the very least two shades of that color. Now, as we see in this mega bucks, custom ordered, "Designo" interior, half the bits are black. I'm glad the new owner loves his new car, I really am. However, when I see an interior like this, I always imagine how absolutely sensational and LUXURIOUS it would look if the ENTIRE interior were that lovely brown color, with maybe carpets a shade or two darker.

MB is taking the CHEAPO way out, at a time when they should be pulling out all the stops. ALL of these things should be OPTIONAL! You want an all white interior with navy blue carpets--check the box. You want an all brown interior with matching everything--check the box. If you WANT a half brown/half black interior--HAVE THE FRIGGING OPTION OF CHECKING THE FRIGGING BOX! I'm not saying that these things should be cheap, but if Porsche can do an interior or an exterior "Color to Sample," for around $4K, then MB should be able to offer similar service, especially on their $100K plus "luxury" cars.

Perhaps its my eye as a clothing designer, but do you see this stitch? I can't tell if it is coming out / falling apart / or if it's a trick with the lighting?

Is there time for you to call the factory / or pre - alert your dealership to check this upon delivery?

A man after my own heart! Yes, I did notice this but I assumed that it is from the light reflection of the stitch. There must have been a lot of flash light because the color of the stitching and leather are way, way lighter then they actually are.

Because this is a custom made car they check it and I am quite sure they would have caught it if it were a problem. I met about two weeks ago in Germany, the gentleman that processed my custom order details and he said he would be the one checking to confirm the car was made to specifications.

I am sure it didn't take him long to understand me and my cars so I am sure he was careful. He was extremely conscientious and really cared about making sure the car would be "perfect".

I am a clothing designer here in NY of upscale womens' dresses. Everything made in NY / much of it by hand.

When the prototype is done (photo shoot / sales sample) - I go over the piece with fine tooth comb. Every stitch, every thread, every piping, every hem, every everything. The last thing in the world I want to do is have a buyer from a store ask me randomly "Will the production dresses have this imperfection in it?"

So I completely respect customizing cars, matching colors, patterns, patchwork, embroideries, etc. It's my life.

I happen to disagree with comments above about why MB marries colors back to black. I think Black is the sophisticated foundation color that embraces the rich complimentary colors. In your case, the Brown. I don't think in any way shape or form, it is a sign of cheapness, or easy decision making. I believe that anchoring a rich color to black creates a visual excitement, and I would have to say - that is probably what you wanted.

The car is going to be one hell of a vehicle!

Please know that I am not deriding you or your car in anyway here. But, with all the talk of a "custom made car," and "custom order details," one must wonder why, pretty much nobody this side of the Sultan of Brunei can actually GET a truly "CUSTOM MADE" car out of MB. To me, custom made would be if I were to order the exact same car as yours, but told them that I wanted the ENTIRE interior to be the same, beautiful brown. No black carpets, no black dash, ALL BROWN--but with a cream colored carpeting! In a truly custom made situation, the maker would say "yes sir, just initial here," and your car with an all brown interior and cream carpets would magically appear in 8 weeks. Not to beat a dead horse, but Porsche offers this type of service, MB does not and is increasingly offering us FEWER choices. True purveyors of real luxury know that offering to provide exactly what the customer wants is paramount and they will bend over backwards to provide it. Nothing MB does is truly "custom," nothing!

I could have ordered an all brown car but I chose not to do that. If you stay within certain guidelines, the interiors are assembled on the production line once the parts are custom made. If you want something to the tune of what you are talking about, your car goes to the Performance Center to be customized which is an entirely different process. This adds a significant amount of time to your build, not to mention cost.

That being said, from my experience, I don't think it is the same system as Porsche offers, but I really don't know the Porsche process.
