Prepaid maintenance?
There are two other threads with this exact subject for the W222 however from my talks with my dealer, prepaid maintenance is prorated refunded if your car is totaled. The other threads say that there is no refund for it.
Anyway, with that out of the way, any thoughts on 5/50k prepaid for $2059?

I would not do 5, like 3. Some of the services are not worth the pre-paid. If they were all like B3 services I would say yes. Call you local dealer and find out what your next five services are going to cost. Then see if it saves you any money. It does how ever save you from price increases.

prepaid mtc *is* refundable. benzo will calculate the amount of unused balance BASED ON TIME passage and not on actual service performed. and refund the difference to you within ten days of your asking for it. ive done this many times and enough to learn that it is not a good deal for me :/ cos i trade cars so often. as a price point check for you - i paid $689 for a 3-yr prepaid mtc plan for my 221 s550.

Correct, SolidGranite. If you live in California, you have some options for cancellation & refund. The rest of the 49 states have no options.
I just bought the four year pre-paid maintenance plan with my 2015 S550. On page 3 of the contract, the section Cancellation reads as:
Subject to any specific exclusions or limitations under State law, the Mercedes-Benz Prepaid Maintenance Agreement cannot be cancelled by the purchaser and is non refundable.
On the forth page of the PrePaid Maintenance Agreement, there's a subsection dedicated to California:
In California, the Purchaser may cancel this Agreement at any time by submitting a written cancellation request to the Selling Dealer or any authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership.
If the Purchaser elects to cancel this Agreement within 60 days of the effective date and has not received any service under this Agreement, the Selling Dealer will within 30 days of cancellation issue to the Purchaser a full refund equal to to the Purchase Price. If the Purchaser has received service under this Agreement, the Selling Dealer shall issue to Purchaser within 30 day of cancellation a refund equal to the Purchase Price minus the cost of any services received under this Agreement.
If the Purchaser elects to cancel this Agreement more than 60 days after the effective date, the Selling Dealer shall issue Purchaser within 30 days of cancellation a refund equal to the Purchase Price minus the cost of any services received under this Agreement.

The cost of dealer maintenance varies considerably based on where you live. In Southern California, there a lot of Mercedes dealers and there is always someone offering a bargain price. Several of the others will match the price of any competing dealer. "A" service can usually be found in Southern California for $150 to $160. In other parts of the country, the cost for this service can be much higher which can make prepaid maintenance more desirable.

hey solidgranite and fellow illinoisian! my writings are from experience. i have *always* gotten a refund from my dealer (mb of westmont) on both prepaid maintenance and tyre and wheel warranties. maybe because i trade so often, i am an exception. don't know. as i say - just speaking from experience. and the refund is always based on time passage and not actual services done. which is why i wont buy the prepaid maintenance any more. i just don't keep the cars long enough to use it and i end up paying something for nothing. probably why those lads are sooooo good to me. hahahaha. ugh.

one more quick thought - maybe this is a change in policy for '15 and beyond model year? i don't own a '15 yet. just sayin - that might explain the difference between what some of you are being told and what i have actually experienced.

yup. earl does the biz. very aggressive; ergo, very successful. my s/a is zachary, a very professional, knowledgeable young man. cant say enough good things about him. throw him all my business. but to be honest, when it comes time to make the financial deal, sam or dave just come over with the deal numbers, and we're done. not much negotiation any more given how many transactions i do with them. it's always fair for both sides. and painless. with full disclosure. their finance dept is top notch, too. very transparent. i am fortunte to have the relationship i do with them. and they are fortunate to have one with me too!

I ended up negotiating with the dealer to throw in the 3 yr prepaid maintenance as an incentive, at no additional cost to me in order to make the purchase. I asked for 4 yrs, they came back with 3 yrs.
There was a trade-in, (2009 E320) involved so there was room on both vehicles for some numbers tweaking.

The prepaid plan is all in favor of MB, not the consumer. I just bought a 2015 S550 w / 2500 miles that the previous owner traded in on a Acura ( go figure ). He also had a 72mo 65k Prepaid maint agreement. The plan is now on my MB site under my profile Active until Oct. 18, 2020 or 65,000 miles and never used. I am not permitted to use the plan because I am not the purchaser of the plan. If the owner had traded the car for a new MB they would have transferred the plan. IF he had sold the car to me in a private sale, the plan could have been signed over to me. Since he traded it into a non MB dealer, the policy becomes VOID to anyone and non refundable to the original purchaser. This does not sound fair at all. Your thoughts ?
Now, is that not a pile of------ ( Florida)

If you are like me, that keeps his MB for less than a year, I wouldn't buy it. If you do are disciplined and for certain keep it for many years to come, its no brainer, buy it.
