Placing custom order this week...interior question

Has anyone seen the new designo beige/red pearl interior in person? Thinking about going with this option...but could use some advise and opinions. Not sure if it's worth the extra $4,000 above the exclusive napa.

Just my opinion, custom ordering a mercedes S Class should not also include words like "Not sure if it's worth...."

Its your money to spend and no ones gonna tell you how to spend it - but the old phrase "If you have to ask how much, you can't afford it" would apply to this thread.

Order what you like - not what someone tells you is worth it - especially since the moment you drive off the lot - your car's worth 20% less on average.

I think our interior expert @LovinMercedes will be able to best answer this question for you. He knows all of the differences between the Nappa vs. Exclusive Nappa vs. Exclusive Semi-Aniline.

From my understanding Exclusive Nappa vs. Exclusive Semi-Aniline are the exact same grade of leather and the same amount of leather covered surfaces in the interior. It's merely the diamond pattern that's different and obviously the color combo.

Not sure of your original question of Nappa vs. Exclusive though.

Totally agree. One of the reasons I am buying an S is that I can "customize" it the way I want. My add of the high end sound system is an example. From what I have read on this site the standard system is great, but it doesn't bother me if I "blow" the money for an upgrade. If the additional cost was an issue then I feel I should have been looking at a Chevy not an S class.

And beyond that - it's strange for someone to take the advice of someone on the forum on whether they want to add an option they like because of a perceived value.

If you like spanish tiles on your house - and you can afford it - you would not proceed with the decision because someone ELSE disagrees or wouldn't do it personally? The original poster should do what he likes - not what someone tells him to do.

I assume you are looking at this interior for S550 and it is a special order item. Is this correct? I love the look of that interior from the MBUSA website for the S63.

Not sure of your original question of Nappa vs. Exclusive though.
This is mostly correct. Additionally, their is a difference on the dash in the diamond pattern which comes tufted with the Semi-Aniline interior on all models. With the Semi-Aniline you also get the special leather color on the center and door armrests. Finally, with the S550 or S600, the Semi-Aniline has a different diamond pattern on the seats with tufting and square buttons. The center armrest is also tufted in a diamond pattern. The S63 or S65 does not have the buttons and tufting diamond pattern on the seats. It also does not have the tufting pattern on the center armrest because of the embossed AMG logo.

Also, with the S550 or the S600, the metal badge on the seat backs will say "designo" and on the S63 and S65 they will say "AMG." The wording "designo" on the front ash tray cover only comes with the designo piano black (H21) trim, on all models.

Awesome response Lovin Mercedes! I knew you'd come through with all the details. I'm surprised to learn about the seat differences between the AMG and non AMG cars. The regular cars look so much more special than the AMG with the same interior option IMO.

Thank you for the info! It's a tough decision. I've ordered the nut brown/black exclusive...and I have a few days to make any changes. The photos of the semi-aniline interior look fantastic...just wish I could see one in person.

I would hate for you to rely on this but my experience with MB over the years is that the car almost always looks better in person than in the pictures.

Which model are you ordering?

The nut brown is a long way off from the silk beige.

Yes the choice is a little schizophrenic...but I like the look of both of them. The car we tested at the dealer had the nut brown combo.

Funny.

I've seen the nut brown too and it is very nice, I agree. My custom interior is Auburn Brown so I am certainly a fan of brown interiors. I have actually seen nut brown on Diamond White and it is gorgeous.
