Clear Bra/3M Cover

Hey,

Just bought a new 2015 S550 4-Matic, black. Wondering if anyone has applied the 3M clear bra as offered by the dealer? I live in New England and I am considering having it applied prior to the beginning of this winter.

If you have, maybe you could answer the following :

1. Price?
2. Durability?
3. Visibility?

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I took delivery of my 2015 S550 on July 31st of this year. My dealer didn't offer this service, but recommended a local guy who did a great job.

1). Price? $2,600 & change for the front bumper, fenders, headlights, full hood & side mirrors. Product used was the sheet XPel - custom cut to fit my car.
2). Durability? It's been on the car for less than 2 months, no comment.
3). Visibility? Fine. Yes, can see the edges a bit - but I'm going to keep this car for a while - so it's worth it. The film doesn't hold wax very well - so the reflection off the surface is a little different - but that's really nit-picky....

If you're going to hold onto your car - I'd recommend it.

I have it on four of my cars. Front, mirrors, partial hood. Should be about 700 max. Check around first.

I had a clear bra only once on my 2013 Porsche Panamera. I didn't like the way it looks. It was applied very good at the Porsche dealership, but you will always be able to see the difference in gloss/reflection of light and so forth. I took alook at several other cars. It's just not 100% invisible and this bugged me. Did it do a great job: absolutely! I think its a decision between protecting your paint from chips, or having the best look your paint can offer. You can't have both IMHO.

I had a the clear bra on both my C and E. Slightly more visible on the E as it was black but its not bad if the car is clean. It seems to attract dust more so the dirtier the car is the more it stands out. Cost i wanna say 700 for the C and about 1000 for the E, covered the full front, about 1/3 of the hood, and the mirrors. Well worth it

3M film isn't my choice of paint protection because as a Porsche factory install on my white car. Iit lost the gloss, turned yellow and cloudy, and developed mold near the edges. The pic is of a 997-911 at my P-shop with the factory 3M.

I have had good results with Suntek and Clearshield. Put a sample piece on the hood to decide if you want to see a line across the hood or do the full front clip.
