General Wheel Question

Back when I was a kid in the 60's, many auto makers had their own bolt patterns for wheels. A Ford wheel would not fit on a Chevy. A Dodge would not fit on a Jeep, etc. Is it still the same these days, or are most 5-lug wheels interchangeable between makes? For example, would a current production MB wheel of the same width & diameter fit on a current production Lexus or an Audi? Just curious. Thanks.

http://www.crawlpedia.com/bolt_patterns.htm

This page shows 13 different 5-lug patterns and 3 different kinds of bolts (and I know the 5-bolt pattern of my Ferrari is NOT listed on that page).

So, no, wheels don't interchange in general.

That's very helpful, thanks. Narrowing it down a bit, and just talking about their largest sedans, does anyone know if there is any interchangeability between MB, BMW, Audi, Lexus?

A bit of quick googling::

S-class:: 5-112
7-series:: 5-120
Audi:: 5-112
Lexus:: 5-114.3

So, you have a chance with Audi, although widths and offsets may create headaches.

I have an 05' sl500 with lug pattern 5x112. I just bought a set of Niche Circuit M110 wheels with a 5x112 pattern. when i took them to the local tire shop to be installed the pattern of the wheel is slightly off from the pattern of the car. Using a tool the car and the wheels measured a 5x112 bolt pattern. has anyone heard of this problem or possibly know a solution.

Thanks in advance
