Just placed a new order

And was lucky to grab a 12/1 build date. Barely made it!

2015 S550 Sedan
Designo Magno Alanite Grey
Black / black Nappa
Premium 1
Sports Package
Rear deck spoiler
Black poplar
20" multi-spoke
driver assistance package

Comes to around $117k

But I'm struggling with something and hope you guys can convince me to not care!

Surround View is not available for this build cycle. Apparently, the factory ran out of modules! What?! So I can't get surround view.

Deal breaker? Why do I care? Sort of useless feature?

You not interested in the Exclusive trim package @ $950 ? It really makes the interior look that more special...IMO, if you going to buy an S-class, you should go a little overboard with the options. Surround View and even the HUD seem like very useful features to have, judging from the numerous user reviews on this forum. ( although it's certainly not a deal breaker if you don't have them )

Can't stand the HUD to be honest, drove the S Coupe with the HUD and it's extremely distracting. Not a fan.

I don't think Exclusive is $900 more is it? Can't say I'm a big fan of the diamond stiched dashboard. Looks too old timer for me. Want a sleek and sporty interior.

What else does $950 give you aside from Diamond stiched seats?

I use the surround view all the time. For a large car like this, the 360 bird eyes view of the car is a great feature.

HUD is nice but do agree that it can be a distraction. I like HUD when using the GPS in areas that I am not familiar with...I don't need to keep looking down to the screen. When you don't need or want it, you can easies turn it off. It is good to have the option.

I think the exec trim is only the 6 extra pieces of trim.......not diamond stiches...that is from the exclusive leather option

No the Exclusive Nappa Leather(black) with the diamond stitching is $4450.
The Exclusive trim package for $950 includes additional wood trim in the door centre panels, the covers of the air vents in the rear and on the back of the front seat backrests.

I have a November 24th build date for my S550 and the dealer just confirmed that it will have Surround View, as ordered. I would not have that big car without it.

well you said "exec trim", and I wanted to be more specific. No need for you to say "frakking".

I guess I have to ring MBUSA since the surround view is not an option. Frustrating to say the least.

I'm hoping for early January delivery.

I was told that this does happen every now and then on different options. I think the question for the dealer would be if they have a date as to when that option is going to be available again.

Sorry you have to deal with this.

If anyone has a contact at MBUSA this would be great. I'll try and ring someone there tomorrow. Status is B3 which means "paint lock" but if they don't have the surround view modules, they don't have the modules. Not a deal break I guess.

If your status is B3 then the issue is dead. No changes of any kind can be made. You can only correct this with a new production slot. With the B3 status you should have gotten an exact production date.

Good luck with everything. I am sure your car will still be gorgeous.

You're probably right even though the guide here said "paint lock." I'll call and get an exact production date tomorrow but I believe it's 12/1. Adding Surround View at the dealer will probably be very expensive since I believe the system has cameras in the side mirrors? Was a great $800 option but whatever.

Do the side mirrors automatically or manually fold in the S?

Although it is very cool I turn it off and never use it. The backup camera is very clear and has a wide FOV. Besides, the car can parallel park it self anyways. Do you really need something to back out of the driveway or parking spot other than the backup cam? You aren't missing out imo.

The side mirrors fold automatically when the doors are locked.

This. I don't need cameras to drive or park. I've had the self parking feature on my CLS and have used it 5x only to show people how cool it is.

I'm excited about Distronic. Some people are saying it's great for traffic so this will be a blessing in LA rush hour. I'm also curious about how the lane assist works by braking the opposite wheels to keep you in the lane. Excited nonetheless.
