Splitview - what kind of videos can be viewed besides DVD and how?
For example if I have a Quicktime MOV or an AVI or other format video, and throw it on a USB stick or fast SD card or whatever, can it easily be accessed and viewed?
Could I install a Mac Mini full of movies and HDMI in? or Apple TV and Airplay in?
I read that you can watch "TV" - but is TV even broadcast over the airwaves these days? I seriously don't know for sure.
I certainly hope that it's not just "DVD's" that can be played on Splitview, because I just barely have one DVD burner and I really don't want to have to handle DVD's.
Maybe you use your phone as a wifi hotspot and then stream videos on the vehicles browser or something?
Thanks in advance for any answers to this - for some reason the answers have not jumped out at me regarding what media can really be played.
I looked at the snapshot photos of the screens and really didn't see much of a difference, and I am buying a pre-configured vehicle sight unseen with short notice, so I figure I'll just be happy that I was able to get some other key options like, short wheelbase, 4-matic, non black interior, HUD, night vision, and of course "odorama smellovision"

Yes, I suppose that would be true.
I guess my question would be, "what video file formats can be viewed on the command screen"
For example I threw several movies onto a USB stick, together with a folder of MP3 music files.
I can definitely play MP3's fine, and I was happy to see that the album cover graphics come through on the command screen.
Some of the movies have sound only, and some won't be recognized as playable.
I usually do not care about file formats, because I watch them using a program called VLC and stream to an Apple TV, but was wondering if anyone had the answers about what format is best, so that way I could choose and discriminate my file formats when I download them.
XVID.AC3
X264.AAC
X264.AC3
Any rule of thumb as to what works?
I tried to find info in the printed manual and the digital manual without success.

These pictures are from two S class cars parked side by side, one car had the option and the other car did not. On the car with the SPLITVIEW, the passenger side view was not turned on when the picture was taken. When I did turn on the passenger side function, it did not change the resolution on the driver's side, as that is already reduced.

Another problem for me is that you have the two large screens next to each other, so having one with reduced resolution compared to the other, just does not feel right to me.
This is a very cool option so the choice is very personal. I am happy with my decision, but I am very picky about these things.

Whether that is acceptable is a matter of opinion and personal choice, but to say it is not noticeable from just sitting back in the seat, is not an accurate statement.
