I got nothing today at MB Plano. They said they were short on loaners but would be able to drop me off wherever I was going. I already dislike their sales dept and now beginning to dislike the service as well. Only reason I go is bc of my SA who is on leave. Service for higher end car buyers is non existent. I took my GL63 in today but for them it's same as bringing a stripped down base CLA which I guess would be the cheapest new MB.

Not getting a desired loaner seems to be becoming a norm nowadays. There is however a new trend, guys.

One recent example: the local MB dealership refused to service my other AMG car which I purchased from them over a year ago. Prior to my service appointment, I received a phone call from their service advisor who told me that their management left a note in my service records stating that I should be denied getting any work done by the dealer. The situation gets even more ridiculous if I say that I actually purchased a prepaid maintenance for the car. Perhaps, the negative feedback I posted here on MBWorld about this dealership was taken too personally.

Call it a discrimination on the basis of racial, social or cultural beliefs, or whatever.

In germany it is the same story...ok, don`t own a s-class but for our 2013 E350 wagon we got one time a 2011 B200, one time a 2012 C220... so one step down.... for the old 2005 wagon we got A,B, C class`s.... BMW is doing their job better.... for our 2010 BMW 530 GT we got a 2011 BMW 525d wagon, 325d or a 2012 740d.... they wan`t to sell..... but I think it will be a new s-class to replace the 530d! :-p.... it is just the better car!

Keep us posted. Most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Afaik, an authorized MB dealer is not allowed to refuse service work for a customer. EVER!
The can only deny to service a car if car modifications impact that service (or warranty work) but that is very limited in scope at best and can be legally challenged.

That's horrible. I can't even imagine what would prompt them to do this. You should call MBUSA.

I don't have any idea as to why they have chosen this path. I have contacted MBUSA and asked to investigate end to end, and will share the results.

Well, I guess I'm spoiled. My dealer (Viti Mercedes, RI) picks up my car for service, leaves me a C Class loaner and returns my car when completed. Never really gave much thought to which model was left as a loaner. Just am very satisfied with the service and convenience. I rarely make a trip to the dealer. Over the years I have established a great relationship with my sales advisor and my service representative. They understand that I am an enthusiast and really go the extra mile to see that all work is completed to meet or exceed my expectations. I know it sounds like a commercial but I keep going back with my three vehicles for service. I am amazed with how many people complain about their dealers. I know expectations are high at the price point we are dealing with but I think MB is very sensitive to having satisfied customers . The CSR ratings are a top priority with MBUSA and all dealership employees have been made aware of this. I find it rather interesting driving my S, E and C. Makes me appreciate the different attributes of each model. Nothing like the S class though!

I'd never want a tech driving my car to the dealer, I live about 45 miles from them...maybe I'd trust my salesman, but that's it....maybe if I had a valet camera...

last time I took my S to the dealer in Cary, the shop foreman backed up and curb checked, scratching the bottom front lip piece.........then he told me, accidents happen

I hear you hyperion. I had the same misgivings about someone driving my cars but over the last ten years and many (too many!) cars I have never experienced a problem The dealership has a dedicated staff of drivers for this service and I can tell they have been trained about how to handle our precious toys. A friend did have his car returned after service with curb rash on one the wheels. After he observed it, with the driver still there, a call to the dealership instructed him to send the car back with the driver. The car was returned the next day with a new wheel installed. But as I said, I've never had an issue.

Usually get a new E class regardless if the S is in for service or the E is in. Occassionally I'll get a C class or a ML. The loaner 2015 E class I got before I bought the S made me realize that I did not want a new E. That's when I test drove the S, W221, and bought it.

I really can't complain about the loaners that have been made available to me. No other brand has done that for me. MB will even come pick my car up and drop off a loaner if I ask. I would not expect many dealers to make S classes available for loaner. For me that's OK. Makes me really happy to get my S back when it has been in for service.
