S550 Upgrades (Engine)
Hey, new to the forum. Does anyone know if the engine on the S550 has any after market upgrades? Just looking for a little more power.

It does void warranty, but with some ECU tuning you can return to regular mode and the dealer won't notice anything.

I think there is one exception, which is the brabus ECU. I am not sure but, I told it wouldn't void my warranty on my ml.

Hey guys. I am having difficulty getting anyone here that can do this upgrade. The RENNTech web page states a dealer in Japan, but they are not currently working on any S-class. Is it possible to buy the ECU and change it out yourself? Does anyone know if it is just a simple plug and play type deal? Is it something like this in this video? Or is it a complete ECU swap out?

No. Each ECU is keyed to your VIN.

Why? Check for other tuners like Brabus, etc, and see if they can do this in Japan. Also, if this is a real Renntech location , the will have the rig to program the Ecu even if they have never done it.it's just software.

Or send the ECU to the U.S. And they will do it here and return it fast. It will be the same time as a U.S. Upgrade, just more expensive in shipping.

I actually got onto RENNTech USA and they said they would do the upgrade for me. It does not look like anyone is doing anything with RENNTech here.

JapanDave - I bet Brabus or Kleemann could do it for your two - one of those two should have a Dealer in Japan.
