Finally decent weather.
In addition to the wheels, I switched the hood ornament for a drop star, blacked out the window chrome, slight tint and de-badged the rear.
Thanks to the all the members who I PM'd as I was deciding on what to do and for suggesting Mercteil and the wheel change ... was nervous buying from abroad, but the transaction was painless. They are trying to talk me into getting the carbon ceramic brakes, but luckily no close-by dealer wants to install them.
Random ... if you're close to NJ, go to ETD tires in Clifton and ask for Frank ... only place out of 4 (2 MB dealers included) that know how to correctly Hunter road force balance your wheels. Most do not put in the time to force match the wheels - makes all the difference in the world.

That car is sexy, I wouldn't mind drop starring the hood ornament. How did you go about that process, dealer? Btw, anyone 2nd guessing the 222 needs to see this thread.

I keep coming back to this photo of Jenz' car. These rims go perfectly with the rest of the car -- aggressive, sporty, clean.
I was fooling around on the German configuration site for MB and the rims are an available option for the S63, but in the US they are reserved for the S65. Does anyone know why?

On the SL, for example, you can order the leather headliner as a option for even the lowest model (SL400). This is in Europe, of course.
Unfortunately, the US models also have more limited options, mostly due to branding, DOT regulations and homologation requirements. Nothing new; it has been like that for decades

IIRC they brought all my values much lower, highest pre road force was something like 40lbs on one of the tires
On my truck, they got one tire down to 7 from 76, which is ridiculous
It takes a lot of tries and re-balancing, rinse repeat, which is why many places don't want to expend the time to do it correctly
Pardon my ignorance, but what is road force balance. I think I do detect a slight vibration on my car after the passenger front tire was replaced and balanced over a month ago. There was also a slight dent on that wheel due to the force of the impact after I went over a damn brick on the road at 70 mph back in early May. The wheel dent was repaired yesterday, but I think I still detect a very slight vibration at higher speeds. Perhaps I also need this "road force balance", whatever that involves.

love the debadge
