Big picture, you can ignore what the dealers tell you about incentives blah blah blah, they use that as a way to floor the pricing talk, ie I can give you 3% off MSRP plus incentives at delivery.
Truth is any dealer can go north of 10-12% off MSRP, I've seen 15-16% off during the rush in Dec. These incentives and factory cash make it easier for the dealer to discount aggressively since he's not funding the entire discount out of his wallet, but even without big incentives, you should be able to get close to 10% off with some negotiation and leg work.

I'm also pissed that the fleet discount just fell by $2500 overnight!

Opinion on this deal
Alright fellas...I'd appreciate your input on this deal...
2015 S550 4Matic
MSRP 115,565
Negotiated price 105,900
AMA fleet -$3500
Final sale price $102,400
Planning on 36mo/10k lease (MF .00099 and 52% residual)
That's just 8.3% off MSRP for the negotiated price and just over 11% off with the AMA discount.
Do you think there is more room to get the negotiated price down before the AMA discount (especially with the 2016s just around the corner)? Do you think dealer incentives may improve in the next month or two as they prepare further for the 2016 stock to roll out?
Thanks!

Personally, I would look at least at not going above 30 months; with a higher residual the price will be the sweet spot. This will give you an effective 2 year lease, just in time for the dealer to get you out of the lease and offer you a deal on the face-lifted MY18

Interesting that AMA is still $3500. Maybe the FEP $1000 I linked to earlier is wrong? Of there are indeed differences in available fleet discount levels, and they run $1000-3500 currently?

Gosh, I'm not sure they are willing to go down by 10% which is very frustrating.

look fellas -- every deal is different. this is not saturn of yore. you need to be comfy with what you think the car is worth and what you can afford and negotiate to that price. using a forum like this is good for gaining perspective (if people are being honest in their responses), but undoubtedly someone will pay more than you; someone will pay less. the price you get on any given day is dependent on the geo-area of the country, the circumstance of the given dealership at the time of the month you buy: how many units they have out, their inventory load, their floor plan financing month-to-date run rate, the success of the f&i p&l to date and it goes on and on. there is so much more to this answer than just "well, my buddy got this and that so i should, too!" my point is that just because someone comes on this board and says they got 20% plus all the available incentives does not mean everyone will get that. every. deal. is. different.

You should get a minimum of 12.5% off the MSRP based on the "Friends and Family" promotion.

^ only if one of the salesmen offers it to you. there are only two such offers per year per salesman (this is a new programme in the last several months). so if you have a very tight relationship with one, and s/he has not already given away the control numbers, you might get one of their slots if they feel generous. btw - in addition to the discount referenced above, any incentives in force at the time are also allowed. and there are some pretty decent accommodations made on leasing fees to you, if you are so inclined to go that route.

I'm sorry, you are right.
Let me be more specific.
1. Is the F&F discount compatible with a fleet discount?
2. What sort of lease fees are you referring to?
Thanks again for bringing this info to the forum. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

1/ yes
2/ a. reduced lease acquisition fee and b. very favourable money factor (crazy low buy rate but dealer can still take .0004 mark up (~ 1%) over the buy rate but still resulting in a much better-than-market rate that would be offerred otherwise.)

So I just asked my sales rep and he said that discount is for Daimler employees and not dealership employees??
#43
I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve. If you don't have a salesperson who's a true friend, you're not going to get someone to give you one of their codes. He may have just said that vs an outright no.

yeah. what jenz said ^. im not an employee of anybody (and have nothing to do with benzo, or or any dealership or any affiliation whatsoever with the brand or marketers other than i buy their cars and drive them) and was offered the accommodation outlined above. in short, your sales rep either doesn't know of what he speaks or is trying to be diplomatic in his refusal to offer you the deal; the controls numbers are quite limited in their availability.
