its begining to look a lot like a 7-SERIES YEAR!

If memory serves correct they move roughly 7000 a year here in the U.S. It's a token at best. As a previous owner of 3 BMW's from 2011 and 2012 I can say they completely gave up on the ultimate driving concept. My W222 is a far better performer than my 2012 750il

Very high quality video of the new 7 in motion...love that exterior color and the interior looks quite nice. The new 7's base MSRP is ~$84,000.00 ($10k less than the S).

Almost traded my '13 XKR Portfolio Conv. on a new M6 Conv. but the seat bottoms were like bricks...hope these are thoroughly reworked for the 7.

The 740 is a V6 model and would compare to a S350/S400 in Europe.

Well, can we imagine that they have now fixed their V8 once and for all? My guess is probably not.

I never thought the regular 7 series was very plush. I had a 7 series Individual, and that car was gorgeous, and several steps up from the regular 7 interior. The inside was every bit as nice as MB.
I see on the configurator that the Individual line is not out yet. Wonder when that is coming. Probably worth asking.
I know so many people have issues with their 7 series. I had no problems with mine. Yes, the ride is a little different than MB, but still quite remarkable.

Dad's going to take a look at the new Individual when it comes out - the seating inside with the new stitching and piping is outrageous. Really outstanding design job on that front.

yes I know, but that's what we get here as base models. Good news it's BMW super smooth twin turbo inline 6 (which happens to be completely reworked for '16). There will also only be a long wheelbase offered here, so the base is an 'L". The new carbon-core tech in the car's body is another interesting feature actually lowering the car's CG.

Never thought I'd ever own a Jag but the XKR is truly one of the best GT's I've ever owned; powerful, sophisticated and you don't see one on every other corner. Since the '12MY when Ian Callum from Aston took over, he made it so much nicer looking; shame, after this MY there will be no more.

I'd stay away from that first year model. BMW doesn't do so well with flagship releases being reliable.
I did see you can change the tint levels of the glass sunroof up front. That's cool, but I've never wanted to change the tint level or felt I had to on any car with a glass sunroof.

I too work with a guy who had to lemon his 750 IL because it was burning oil like crazy and his dealership bought him boxes of oil to keep in the trunk. Apparently it didn't even have a dipstick so it was only a digital readout when the oil was finally too low. He now drives an infiniti and he's thrilled

I hate the no oil dipstick thing!!! The 2006 CLS is like that and it's ridiculous. You can buy a dip stick, but it's $200 and you need to do a conversion to even figure out the level.

I'm a big fan of this new 7-series. For those looking for a modern spin on their luxo-barge this is a top notch choice. The S-class has its own style but its definitely not the only game in town. Hooray for competition!

. I fully agree. Perhaps MB will now make a compact spare available for the W222 when the refresh comes along. Competition usually improves things for consumers and it would appear that the new 7 will give MB a good dose of it.

Just anxious to see what the refresh will be since we're in the mkt for a new sedan...hope to have chosen something in the next 3-6 mos...we might be willing to wait longer if the refresh holds something good.

Don't hold your breath. Will take longer than you are hoping for...

Yes, the photos online of the Individual Line are quite stunning and I can't wait to see what will be offered. As for the dependability, I believe that BMW is not as trouble free as MB, but they can't be as bad as some folks would lead us to believe, or they would not be selling nearly as many cars as they are.

The issues are with the 7 series, particularly the 750 with its V8TT engine.

2017 C43 Sedan and 2018 E300 Sedan. 2015 S550 gone.
I'm sorry and surprised to hear about so many problems with your '14 E550. I had the coupe version of the car for about 15 months with zero problems. I mean nothing--but pleasure. Traded it this month for an S550--couldn't resist and with only 9 payments left on the E (and Mercedes picking three of those) I pulled the switch on a 2015. Having said that, the E was the most problem-free, rattle-free delight I have had in most any of my MBs. Wish I had the budget to have kept them both.
