I will preface this with the fact that I did not expect this car to get great gas mileage. However, I'm getting 9 miles to the gallon, about 230 miles on a tank in my new S550. I'm not driving ruff or with a heavy foot. Is this normal? The sticker indicated a combined 19...is something wrong with my car?

I average about 22mpg combined in warmer weather, and more like 20mpg in the cold of winter. My city average ranges from 18-19 mpg. But it did take a few thousand miles or so for me to reach these figures; it was definitely lower initially (but certainly not as low as you are reporting).

I have 6,000 miles on my S600 and the readout indicates I average a bit over 20.1 MPG.
I can get 24 MPG on interstates, and 22 MPG on Texas non-interstate major city to city roads; I also get about 17 MPG driving the thing through city traffic to work and back.
If you are getting only 9 MPG with the V8, you are not driving it correctly.

Haven't driven the car in yet but see a 13mpg avg. in the city, which is low.
I expect mileage to improve once i have a better mix of hwy/city driving.

Just got 26 mpg on trip to Boston with AC on. I would think w222 would be similiar. 35 psi in tires. Make sure yours aren't low.

I get 51MPG, couldn't opt for a 63 or 500 because of the house extension

I live in Los Angeles, 4500 miles on the odometer, and average 13.5 mpg combined.
VERY disappointed in the gas mileage of this car compared to my '08.

I have 6000 miles on my 2015 S550 and have recently averaged just over 26 mpg on interstate with no traffic average speed 66 mph. Very pleased!

Do most of you live in flat areas with low populations (aka in the middle of nowhere)?
I don't see how you guys average such high MPG figures.
No matter how carefully I drive (the eco percentage thing in the IC could say 70%) and I would still average 11-13 mpg on a 5-10 mile trip in Los Angeles. Even freeway driving barely raises the average to maybe 15 mpg. Of course, the car is a lease, so I drive it aggressively (as it should be driven according to all those Mercedes in the desert testing videos), but even when driving carefully, the car doesn't seem to cooperate.
For example, I drove from Beverly Hills to UCLA this morning (about a 3-4 mile drive) and averaged 11 mpg. Gas tank went from 20% to 10% and just a few miles later I was at 5%.

Either it's the aggressive driving, combined with LA traffic, or there could be something wrong with your car. Have you tried resetting the calculation when you're on a freeway with no traffic? (By hitting enter/ok when the mpg calc is visible...it will ask you if you want to reset.) In that scenario, if you're going say 65-75, I think you should get at least 25, unless the freeway is especially hilly. I was testing mine out on a long, low-traffic trip between Montreal and where I live in CT, and I would get 26-29 for long stretches (like 50+ mile stretches), with the variability due I think to a combination of terrain and speed.

I can't believe that we have the car for 6 weeks and have only put 300 miles on it but the weather is great and it's convertible time
That said, large and heavy cars will have poor stop/go (city) mileage and do great on hwy. traffic, especially turbo engines.
Same on the SL, 13/14 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the hwy. even with a lot of passing acceleration and very swift driving.
I always have ECO off.

Here are my comments on this topic. If you are getting less than 14-15 mpg in city driving and less than about 25 on the highway in warm weather driving, then either something is wrong with your car or you are constantly abusing the gas paddle with jerky accelerations and sudden breaking.
In frigid cold along with strong head or cross winds, the gas mileage drops a lot, so I can understand getting considerably less than the figures I gave above.
This time of year, I typically get about 17 mpg in city traffic and at least 27 on the highway. I sometimes get over 30 on the highway under perfect conditions.

As I said in my OP, I am definitely not abusing the gas peddle. In fact I drive the car like a grandpa. Still, i am averaging 9-11mpg city and about 15 highway. I just had the car at the dealer, they said to drive it till about 5000 miles then bring it back if it does not improve. So, I guess we will just wait and see.

I agree with Bean: something is off here, even I got 20mpg on my 187 mile trip just yesterday....
who exactly told you to keep driving? shop foreman? service tech? SA?

But to OP:: I have a test for you to "perform".
Some time in the next week,
a) After the car is fully warmed up (10 minutes+),
and the tires have been set to at least 39 PSI,
b) when you are just about to enter a freeway,
c) and will be able to drive for at least 5 minutes at 65 MPH
without any interference from other cars or distronic slow downs::
D) RESET the fuel milage as you enter the freeway,
E) and set cruise control (distronic) for 65.
E.1) do not touch the gas pedal yourself,
E.2) do not touch the brakes yourself,
F) Change your main screen view view so you can watch the current milage, home->trip->current
g) and after 5 (or 10!) minutes tell us what the MPG reads.
h) and whether the car maintained exactly 65 MPH for the entire 5 minutes.

Is the OP in an area where freeways aren't prevalent?
Here, I'm rarely on the freeway; 98% of my driving is in the city.
MPG equivalents:
w/ eco start/stop: 14.2 mpg
w/o eco start/stop, sport mode: 11.7 mpg
manual mode: 8.8 mpg
I have friends with W222 S550s who get similar fuel consumption (10-15% better) than my numbers.
Since you mentioned it's a new vehicle, I remember the fuel consumption being extremely high for the first week, like 80-100% more than my current number. That may be the case for you but I'm not sure.
