Not the wrong forum at all.. The 7 series is a direct competitor to the w222... Talked about frequently in this forum ...Let us know what you think ... Pics would be sweet

Hey guys, sorry for the delay but I've been very busy since the unveiling at Trump. The new 7 was quite nice and I don't think will disappoint. We spent about an hour with the national BMW product specialist and he highlighted all the changes BMW made to the car which are very extensive. The overall look of the car was evolutionary vs. revolutionary but done well. The rep explained they addressed nearly all of the complaints they received form the previous 7 especially that it was not luxurious enough. BMW is very proud of their new carbon core technology. The rep stated the new 750 will also be a full half second quicker to 60 than the W222. I missed the test drive period which was scheduled for the next day, but spent time in the car playing around with the new gesture controls etc which all worked very well; the fit, finish and materials were all excellent. I only took one iPhone shot which came out poorly due to the way the lighting was set up (I can still post it if you would like) but two professional photographers that were there are supposed to be sending me pics, which once received I will share here. I will follow up with the dealership in Palm Beach that paid the photographers to see if they can send them to me. The car was an 750 M Sport in Singapore gray with a tan diamond stitched napa leather and black shadow line trim. The new side vents looked much better in person than in the current pics on the net as did the car itself. The rep said the 740 will be the drivers car but was not available for the event...he said the totally reworked all new inline 6 is sublime. The official release according to the rep will be 10/24.

I would definitely consider the six cylinder car, IF they don't do one of those ridiculous things where they don't allow the customer to order all the same options as on the V8 model. I think I read about a month ago that you couldn't get the 740 with the rear window sun shade or some such idiotic thing, but I chalked that up to flawed, pre-release information. Will they allow the "Individual" trim on a 740 and all the other goodies available on the 750? We will have to wait & see.

Saw the new 7 series today for the first time. Frankly, I was shocked.

While the car is clearly evolutionary, I thought it lost its feeling of sophistication and luxury. I am a big fan of all of the high tech stuff, but I much prefer the looks of the old 7 series that I just got my wife.

As for the outside, it is much sportier than the old 7 series, but certainly not any nicer. The old 7 series looked like it had more stature and the new one looks like it is trying to compete with the S class.

I was thinking about buying a loaded, custom Individual, just to experience the new BMW flagship, but really don't see that happening now.

Probably a Maybach at LCI.

Well, the press has been saying how BMW has aimed this new 7 squarely at the W222, but your review of the styling and feel of the car has me wondering what I will think when I get my first look.

I was attending Frieze masters art exhibition in London as a VIP and was driven to and from station by a brand new 7 series. All limos for the exhibition are supplied by BMW to chauffer people around. I must say that looks are fairly similar to previous gen car and I actually didn't realise it was the new 7 until I saw the light cluster at the front. inside the car is quit nice I must say. much improved on previous gen

I'll be interested to hear your impressions. We all have our preferences.

I am pretty sure Sterling should have one by now?

My local just dealer just got one as well. Being as unbiased as possible, I was very disappointed. In the evolutionary phase they lost much of what made the previous 7's lines so beautiful. The headlights in the grill are a disaster. Even the taillights don't flow as nicely as the previous car. Interior not a drastic upgrade, but now has that generic ipad screen. Atleast with the S the screen is integrated very nicely, while the other MB's are getting the ipad screen. Wish they would have done the same in the 7.

I hope they aren't thinking tech alone is going to sell this car. The S doesn't have a thing to worry about. Now on to finding a deal on a '15 S.

I visited Sterling this afternoon and they had an Alpine White (GREAT color), M Sport model. I looked it over and I have to agree with your assessment. I did not really find the exterior styling very appealing. I will reserve final judgment until I see a non-M Sport model, but I guess I feel the same about this new 7, as I do about the W222 vs the W221: I like the previous model better. That said, I know how these things can "grow" on you, so I guess I'll wait and see. It has been ten months since I got my S550, and I STILL like the 221 better. Whenever I see one, my eyes follow it. I think the 221 was a timeless design, while I still feel that the 222 is a bit too overdone and a bit too generic.
