Anyone get or see this error message before?
Brake 'hold' feature won't engage either.....

I've had that on other MB models, but never on my 222. It usually means you need a new aux. battery. I called Roadside Assistance and they came out and put one in my 2004 SL. I had to pay for the battery, but it was great service for a car six years out of warranty. Probably covered under your warranty if you call and you won't have to visit the dealer. Really, you need to call RA and see if they send a guy from Cary.

turns out to be a battery that's only function is to 'jump start' the car during eco stops and probably needs to be replaced, will report back with more details when completed

The message means that the auxiliary battery for the transmission is no longer being charged. I had the same message. The auxiliary battery needs to be replaced. It is covered under the warranty. You may want to request that while the battery is being replaced, the charging system and the associated circuits be checked.

For peace of mind and safety there is no harm in getting it checked to prevent any damage to the car or self specially if as mentioned by 3.14159 that the battery for the transmission is no longer being charged.
