Totally Depressed
the main reason I drive an S550 is for safety
I too would like to see photos if possible
glad you are here to post this!
I completely understand as my '14 S550 4matic was totaled by my insurance company when a guy ran me off an interstate highway while a hit a tree at about 60 mph.
I was as bummed as you are right now.
This happened last June after about 18 months of ownership.
I now am a happy owner of a '16 S550 4matic. These cars save lives and can be replaced. I was so bummed for months after my accident until my new '16 S Class arrived after a few months after I placed the order.
I really do understand since it was last June this happened to me. The key is a persons safety and these wonderful hunks of metal can be replaced.
And the picture below the thumbnail picture is the new car (relatively new '16 S already has 7k miles on it). So OP there is a bright day around the corner.

I just went down this road.
My '14 S550 4matic was sideswiped on an interstate highway with a guy changing lanes and forcing me off the road. I smacked a tree at about 60 mph. The guy had the gonads to claim it was my fault. I had no witnesses so the insurance companies went to arbitration. Last month (yes it took from June until March) I won. The other guy was determined to be 100% at fault. It is all BS but the insurance companies are the ones that deal with this stuff in the background. The biggest issue you will have is dealing with any injuries and buying a new car.
By the way, did you have any injuries? I assume your airbags went off. My biggest issue was the ringing in my ears for months. In fact, I still have some ringing in my ears from the steering wheel and knee airbag going off. But those airbags helped save my life. Did MBrace call you immediately in the car? Since I was pushed off the interstate and my car was dangling on top of a tree, it was nice to have MBrace come on and calm me down since I was in shock after the accident. I was buried in trees and brush and no one could see me from the interstate.
Insurance will replace your car. Be glad your car was there when you needed it most, and that is to protect you.

Glad you are OK! We have dash cams (front/rear) in all our cars and in this type of scenario, a quick replay to the cops can settle the fault discussion on site.

When the car senses an imminent impact (using onboard cameras and ultrasonic sensors), the stereo plays a loud static-type noise around 85 decibels. It’s not so loud that it hurts, but it’s loud enough to trigger the acoustic reflex and protect the ear from the much louder sound of the accident that arrives a moment later.

Not sure who your insurance company is but with my recent experience with my '14 S550 I would bet with about 85% to 95% certainty your car will be totaled by the insurance company.
It looks like about 50k to $60k of damage. So they will pay you $85k to $95k and sell the car for $30k to $40K.
Just my 2 cents.
