H or V rated tires?

OK guys, what do we think on this? I never drive over maybe 85 and almost always under 80 on the highways. Maybe a 100mph blast to pass some trucks on I-5 once or twice a year. I have 18" wheels, running 245/50-R18 100V conventionals currently. I'm looking for safe, quiet & comfortable over everything else. H or V? Thanks.

This is a good read. With a S class I would be more worried about load rating than the speed rating. Especially when the difference between the two you are looking at is 19ish MPH

I agree with the above.

Both H and V (and a whole bunch of other letters) designate higher speeds than you subject your tires to.

And one or two quick bursts of speed up to 100 MPH is vastly different than cruising at 100 MPH due to the heat load in the tire.

So, concentrate on the load rating, traction ratings, and wear ratings.

{And admit that some of us hate run craps.}

Generally I find the higher the speed rating the rougher the ride. I believe sidewalls are stiffer on higher speed/performance tires causing this?

Comfortable, quiet and safe are my priorities. Never drive over 70 MPH and seldom do that. My car is an "E," but now nearing time for new tires due to age as tread is still good.
Thought about dropping down to S rated to get a more comfortable and quieter ride. The current Michellins are very noisy.
