Greetings! First time caller, long time listener.
I'm considering getting a CPO 2015 S550, and am debating between the 4matic and non-. Looks like 4matic is running roughly a $10k premium. In the winter here in St. Louis we get a small amount of snow, but nothing serious. I intend to drive the Merc every day rain or shine.
Is there a consensus on how well the RWD S550 does in weather? Do I really need the 4matic?
Thanks!
PS: I did search first but didn't find anything related; sorry if I overlooked.

Without serious snow you should be OK with non 4-matic. I would run it with a good set of all season tires all around. You won't go far with high performance summer tires if you should run into occasional light snow.

You can also get the Magic Body Control, it is not sold on the 4Matic

I have driven a rwd S-class forever even in heavy winters in Mpls.
Never got stuck but snow tires are a requirement. With 4matic you can get away with all-season tires...

You can get a cheap set of knock off wheels that are copies of stock and winter tires. The RWD are easier on tires and pretty decent in bad weather. I suspect the trade in value of AWD to be better in the North though. Dave
