Interesting. The December 2016 issue of Car and Driver has a comparison test of an S63 Cabriolet and a Bentley Continental GT V8 S Convertible. Obviously, they like both cars, but the Bentley, even with its $58,000.00 premium over the S63, won out. They said "it's the better car to drive."
What attracts me to the Bentley is the ability to HAVE IT YOUR WAY! The range of available exterior colors is staggering. For the interior, the number of leather choices is amazing. Then, you can mix and match those colors. If you want the dash & carpets darker than the seats, no problem. Build it pretty much EXACTLY as you want it. In comparison, the $214,000.00 S63 is available in the same, drab, dull, "50 Shades of Gray" that most other MB's are available in. I certainly realize that you pay Bentley, quite handsomely for the ability to have your car just as you want it, but when cars get over the $100,000.00 level, all makers should offer their customers a more custom, luxurious experience. But, MB, in their typical, stubborn, "it's our way or the highway" attitude, turns off a lot of customers, myself included.
I really hope there is a new Continental in my future. Mine would probably look like the one pictured here.

I totally agree, streamliner. Drab color selection is a real turn-off. Do keep in mind that you can customize the colors of the leather and the paint by going through the AMG Performance Studio. But Bentley do have this, and probably only this, as the only advantage left over Mercedes.

Yes, but, now C&D says they actually prefer to DRIVE the Bentley. That, coupled with the luxury experience really makes the Continental a compelling choice.

Read the same article but their reasoning was odd at best. They complained about the transmission and makes sense, definitely the worst in MB's line-up but to complain that the car does things too well.
They would have done better comparing the 550 to the 65...
