Here is something that I have no idea why it's there but it is.
The rear seat cupholders in the fold down armrest have bottoms that rise and fall.
You push a button inside each cupholder to allow it to rise. You just push down on each one to make it fall.
Bottoms pushed down Bottoms released Button to push to allow bottoms to rise. one on each cupholder

I guess since it is an S-Class it is all about the luxury and convenience and efficiency is the name of the game. I believe that is for champagne flutes.
There is a release for the front console cupholder. If your cupholder seems loose or pulls right out then the locking feature is not set to lock. Slide lock towards rear of vehicle until it stops to lock. Slide it forwards to remove cupholder assembly.
.
.Here you can see the locking slide (between cups under center). Catch it with your thumbnail to move it. That little piece sticking past the edge is the only thing locking it into place.
There is a small hook that is in both rear roof assist handles.
Push the small rectangle and it rotates out.
I thought it was a switch at first so I pushed it and out pops a hook.
