Trunk "Box"

Hey all, I'm a w210 guy, but my father is in the market for a 2014-2015 S550 4Matic. Most of the car's I've seen online have this "box" in the trunk, but I'm about 99% sure I have seen some car's without it. Can anyone explain what the "box" i've outlined in red in the picture is? I know its not the fridge, and I've seen this "box" in models with and without the warmth and comfort package (Reclining rear seats). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's called the comfort box. It's a $350 option that is easily removable if you need to carry taller items. It expands, allowing you to carry smaller, light objects in the trunk without having them roll around. Very handy.

Sorry, should've clarified, not the comfort box, its the object hanging down with the two dots on it in the picture. Looks as if its part of the trunk.

Hey, that car looks familiar. Oh wait, because its mine...
I have power rear seats, the motors eat into the trunk space a little bit...

Thanks 714Merc! Beautiful trunk ya got there. I knew the power seats caused some loss in trunk space, but I've seen cars that dont have the power seats with that same bulge in the trunk with the two dots. I'm basing all of this off of pictures. I'll do some measuring this weekend to see what the difference between reclining and non-reclining trunk space is.

Far as I'm aware I think 223/276 are your issues with the bulge; those can be ordered with or without Warmth/Comfort Pack. Don't really think it makes that big a difference with capacity...
