I am am very much interested in ED of RWD S560.
Were you able to get any info regarding when the Non - 4 matic version will be available ?

thanks

Quote: I called Mercedes and European Delivery office and they both said S560 4matic will not be available until late October, however the posted DOG shows August....any know if this guide is specific for the United States?

Is it? That's a shame. Haven't seen it person, but it looked nice in pictures. I figured it couldn't possibly look worse than the burl walnut and other woods. Those truly look like plastic. I was planning on getting the piano black next time or the natural woods, but I'm not going to sacrifice the warmth and comfort package for them like it shows in the DOG.

Well, as my mother would have said: "to each, their own." If you think the Burl Walnut looks like "plastic," then I don't know what to tell you. It's REAL burl walnut, with a superb, finely rubbed & polished finish. I think it looks sensational.

The DOG is US only, so those are the preliminary dates. These dates can change and can be wrong, but they are typically more accurate when a month is mentioned (rather than "late spring 2016" for our SL which turned out to be August).

That said, facelift launches are not as critical as new model launches, but a Nov. launch date makes little sense as it interferes in many customer lease cycles and will make MY2018 look bad in terms of sales stats.

The car launches in July in Europe. When the W222 was introduced I seem to remember that there was a 2 months gap until launched in the US, but the intro was earlier as well.

Quote: Well, I am UNDERWHELMED! As much as I hate to say it, I will be test driving the new Lexus LS500, the Hyundai G90 and the new Audi, if it comes out in time. Hell. I might give my current S550 back to them at lease end and buy a Honda Accord, waiting for Bentley to come into the 21st century with their electronics. This is really depressing. Brown and grey???? As my old CPA (who collected vintage Ferraris) used to say: "the Germans are laughing at us."
I assume you are underwhelmed due to the color options?

In general, you will get more car for money during the facelift as options prices are reduced or rolled on the base price or packages (as is the case here as well).

The W222 definitely has more improvements on the tech side than prior facelifts (like the W220/W221).

That said, the upcoming Audi A8 maybe an option for you.

Agreed. Some people believe that any high-gloss lacquer on real wood must be plastic; probably happens when growing up around American cars

I am no fan of open pore wood personally. Plus there is no option for wood/leather steering wheel...

I don't like the options for wheels. I am a bit crazy about stuff like that, but when paying $120K ish, you should really like them.

Maybe A8 again.

Picking a car based on wheel choices. Really? And then you pick the world's most boring looking sedan?

You could just buy a set of wheels if that is critical for you

I bought a set of real 20" AMG wheels from a local eBay seller. I traded my 19's and cash. Met him at a tire shop where they did the swap.

Well, I called ED division of MB corporate as well and was told ED availability would not necessarily correspond to the launch date as factory prioritizes dealer allocations over ED cars. Was also told ED for RWD S560 is no earlier than January 2018 .. and may even take longer ...

I have the latest DOG (rev. date 5/15) but no prices listed.
But there is likely no big surprise. Expect a couple $k variance to the current model

When do you guys think these 450/560s start hitting the lot? Is it worth waiting for the 2018s? I'm thinking if I lease, there might be some good rebates/incentives to move 2017 cars.

If the bottom dollar is most important to you, and you don't mind probably having to compromise on colors/options, then the 2017 is probably the way to go. However, if the new autonomous driving features, the 9-speed trans and the new, smaller engine with, supposedly better fuel economy are important to you, wait for a 2018. They should hit dealers in the U.S. long about August. You can order a 2018 right now and get exactly what you want.

If launch date is 8/2017 for the 450, you think we'll see them going on the lots by then? I'm guessing first month or so they'll be asking sticker price or maybe more...

The 9G/speed came out on the 17's (I have it in my coupe), it's a huge improvement over the 7G/speed.

You know, it means SO MUCH, to have a good relationship with a dealership in general and with a sales person in particular. I can order a new S Class today and I know that the deal I will get will include a significant discount from MSRP. On the other hand, if I walk into a dealer that doesn't know me, I would expect to pay much more. Staying with a good dealer and being loyal has its perks.

I'm still wondering when MB sill switchover to the new I6 from the V6 in the S450. Is it going to be MY2019, or sooner? I may not get a facelift car at all, but if I do, I don't think I'd go for about-to-be-replaced V6, and would want either the I6 or V8.

Correct. I can order a well discounted S560 today. The issue will be the MF/residual rates which will likely be less attractive for the first 3 months and then get great towards year-end.

I had a bad time at the dealer I configured 4 new cars from. I only got 2k off...never more......then after being given crap service and damaging my car S once, they asked me to take my money elsewhere
